Wanted: Dead or Alive. The Bills’ Injury Bug

The injury bug laughing about what he did to the Bills

The Bills are coming off an impressive victory last week. Wait a minute, they didn’t even play. Why do I feel like they lost though?

Well, the losses are coming compliments of the injury bug (pictured to the right) which has bitten everyone in the last few weeks especially on defense.

Here is a list of injures in past few weeks.

Terrell Owens (no surprise). I think this one was caused by him stubbing his toe. No wait, he took a nap and woke up stiff. You play professional football you dork, take an Advil and get out there. You are supposed to be stiff. When asked about his couch and the stiffness it caused he replied, “My couch is very comfortable, so it’s easy to fall asleep on. (But) I don’t know if it was the couch.”  I am not even going to try to understand that answer.

Meanwhile, three starters are definitely out on defense this week against the Titans and three more are questionable. Linebacker Keith Ellison (quad), cornerback Terrence McGee (knee) and defensive tackle Kyle Williams (knee) are out.

Defensive end Aaron Schobel (groin), safety Donte Whitner (ankle) and safety Jairus Byrd (groin)- who is tied for league lead in interceptions with seven–are questionable. So, if you are keeping track, that means only five starters will be on the field and the other six will be scrubs or practice squad players.

In essence, this means that Vince Young, who has been HOT as of late, will get to pick apart a Bills back field that is unskilled and doesn’t see much playing time.

Less we forget, Trent Edwards is back this week from his concussion. Hopefully, with some luck, the concussion reminds him of where the end-zone is and he throws five touchdown passes to his teammates and not the Titans backfield.

Let’s just hope Rian Lindell doesn’t get injured or the Bills will score no points the rest of the season.
