Washington Redskins

George Edwards, (pictured left showing Zach Thomas how to tackle) has been on the job less than a month at Florida, was named the Defensive Coordinator for the Buffalo Bills this week. George brings with him one heck of a resume including 15 years of collegiate and professional coaching experience. Edwards held the position of linebackers coach for the Cowboys from 1998 to 2001. In 2002, Edwards went to the Redskins under the title of Assist. Defensive Coordinator and [...] Continue reading →
With the 2010 Draft becoming the center of attention, one of the many players making some noise is former Clemson running back CJ Spiller. Spiller was one of the prolific players in college football while with the Tigers. Spiller finished with 7,592 all purpose yards, along with 40+ career touchdowns in his college career. Spiller obviously brings a top ten talent to this draft class, with the ability to be a running back, receiver, and even a kick returner. One problem though, which is most of the league is satisfied at their running back positions and will draft for other needs. If Spiller is available from the mid to late rounds, it is quite [...] Continue reading →
With the Raiders coming off of a big win at Pittsburgh, it is easy to be confident.  While the Redskins were in position to give New Orleans their first loss, they blew the lead after missed field goals and lost in overtime.  These teams were both in a come from behind win last week.  The Raiders rallied 3 times to beat the Steelers while the Saints came back from 2 possesion deficits to top Washington.  DeAngelo Hall will play his former team in front of the fans who once enjoyed watching him wear the silver and black.  Raiders vs. Losing Streak:     Every time the Raiders have won this year they have followed it with a blowout loss.  After they won at Kansas City they were shattered by the Broncos.  After they beat the Eagles they were destroyed by [...] Continue reading →
The Redskins and Cowboys have feuded with each other just like the real settlers and indians of the 1800s. Also, like their predecessors, they have been strong and have won major victories. The Redskins have three Super Bowls to go along with their two NFL Championships and Dallas' five Super Bowls. However, to my great delight *wink wink*, the Redskins have struggled greatly due to an owner who makes Al Davis look not half bad and a general manager that neglects key positions along the team. The Redskins have had a repugnant offense this season. Before the Cowboys game, they had 140 points over nine games. That's [...] Continue reading →
With the way the Washington Redskins have performed this season, one would think the Philadelphia Eagles would have no trouble leaving FedEx Field with a victory on Monday Night Football. After last week's loss to the Oakland Raiders, the Eagles realize they need to take this Redskins' team serious to avoid a second straight loss--especially with the success the Skins have against them the last two seasons. Monday night's matchup consists of two teams looking to avoid ending the week at the [...] Continue reading →
The Indianapolis Colts have showed signs of hope and some major improvement after Sunday's 14-12 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts defense played strong in the victory. Peyton Manning had a solid performance, going 28-of-38 for 301 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception. Manning played strong and was showing [...] Continue reading →
Next week, fan voting will close for the NFL 2009 Pro Bowl. If this were a just world, it would have never opened in the first place. The NFL Pro Bowl system is flawed on a multitude of levels, beginning with the fans. Simply put, they shouldn’t have a say. Yes, this sounds disrespectful. And maybe even stupid. After all, every major sports league includes the fans in All-Star balloting. And fans are what make the league go. By barring them from Pro Bowl balloting, [...] Continue reading →
New York Giants 23, Washington Redskins 7 The important thing to remember here is that the Giants are just plain better than the Redskins. Washington came into this game wanting to stop Brandon Jacobs and the New York rushing attack. They did exactly that. Jacobs was bottled up early on and finished with 71 yards on 21 attempts. Derrick Ward gained 30 yards on 10 carries. But with the ground game limited, all that meant was Eli Manning could make more plays through the air. And that’s what he did, completing [...] Continue reading →
Dallas Cowboys 14, Washington Redskins 10 Marion Barber gave one of the great running back performances in the NFL this season. He rushed for 66 of his 114 yards in the fourth quarter and touched the ball on Dallas’s final 11 plays to ice the game. It was a season-saving effort from a gutsy leader. [...] Continue reading →
