Walter Jones

This isn't Pete Carroll's first go around as an NFL head coach but it is his first off season as a NFL head coach AND executive vice president.  Not only is Carroll the EVP and head coach but if there is a discrepancy between Carroll and new general manager John Schneider, Pete Carroll would win the coin flip 100 percent of the time. According to Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke the team will be built around both Carroll and Schneider but should their be a discrepancy about a trade/signing/draft pick Carroll would be awarded his decision because the team is going to be built around Carroll's philosophy. Now as [...] Continue reading →
As the free agency deadline nears the major movement in the NFL has come from the running back position this past week with five running backs being let go or non tendered to free agency. San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson, Philadelphia's Brian Westbrook, Cleveland's Jamal Lewis, San Diego's Darren Sproles and New Orleans' Mike Bell. Also New York Jets running back Thomas Jones will be released next week so he will be added to the list when that becomes official. Terrell Owens was informed by the Buffalo Bills Saturday that the 36 year old wide receiver would not be back with the organization in 2010 making him a free agent. The New [...] Continue reading →
Usually Super Bowl Sunday gets the nations attention either on the field (if you have the $800+ per ticket to fork up) or on that 1080 HD TV in the living room. Either way you decide to watch the game about everyone in this country turns into watch the Super Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday. Now most of the time there's not any other news that happens on Super Bowl Sunday other than on the two teams involved in the Super Bowl. However Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle made an not so surprised announcement Sunday. He announced via Twitter that he was retiring from the game of football. Here's the [...] Continue reading →
As today dons a new year and more importantly a new decade in Seahawks history. However they still have one little bit of 2009 left attached to them, that being their final regular season game this Sunday at home against the Tennessee Titans and C2k Chris Johnson. After the Tennessee game this Sunday the Seahawks will go into full on off season mode, starting with the hiring of the teams new president/GM replacing Tim Ruskell who resigned in December. Once that new GM is in place they will have a lot of work ahead of them to add talented to this depleted roster. The Seahawks new GM will have to attack some of those needs through free agency as [...] Continue reading →
What a decade it has been for the Seattle Seahawks organization and the city of Seattle in general. The Seahawks, one of two original expansion teams along with the Tampa Bay Bucs have been to their highest high and their lowest low (still currently going lower) in franchise history, which is arguably the most successful decade in franchise history. The Seahawks started out in 2000 still in the AFC West with John Kitna as their starting quarterback so when you take a look at the current Seahawks roster the organization has been through a lot of changes, both good and bad this decade. If you want to compare the start of the [...] Continue reading →
With the Seahawks now officially eliminated from the playoff picture it's time to join Mora, Leiweke and look toward the future as the Seahawks officially move into their long awaited rebuilding process that is expected to take two or three years. Now yes the NFL Draft is four months away but it's never t00 early to start thinking about who the Seahawks should target to help kickoff their rebuild. This team has some talent but as Jim Mora Jr. put it in his press conference, "we need more nasty players". Now Mora wanted to clear the questions and explain what he meant by nasty as well as "dirt bags". He wants to see Sean Locklear shove a [...] Continue reading →
Just another Jim Mora Jr. press conference rant after their 34-7 loss to the Houston Texans. The loss takes Seattle out of playoff contention and the way this team has played this season they don't deserve to be listed in playoff contention and today was a good wake up call. Now I have been supporting Mora in Seattle up until this season. Former Seahawks GM Tim Ruskell brought in Mora two years ago as the secondary coach and assistant head coach. In his first season the Seahawks secondary was amongst the best in the league and even though last year was a little step back they played very well. When Jim Mora Jr. was tabbed as the successor to [...] Continue reading →
If you could look into an eight ball and ask it "Will Matt Hasselbeck be done after this season?" What do you think it would say? Well some fans and analyst believe that he still has 2-3 years left in him and that all Seattle needs to do is get him a great offensive line to protect him. Others will say that this should be his final year, not only in Seattle but in the NFL and that he should retire. In the end, the Seahawks 2009 season should be and will be his final year in the NFL and with the Seattle Seahawks. Now there are many reason behind all this. The Seahawks are currently looking around the league to find their long term GM after Tim Ruskell resigned on December 2nd, with only three months left on his five year contract. Usually when their is new outside GM coming into [...] Continue reading →
Breaking news from The Seattle Times and Seahawks.com. The Seahawks officially announced today that All world LT Walter Jones will be out for the remainder of the 2009 season and it could very well mean the end of his outstanding career. Walter Jones' season ended before he could even get it started. Jones underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in December to clear out cartilage and it was expected he would make a strong recovery. That never happened. By placing Jones' on IR the Seahawks really are shutting themselves down for the Seahawks and looking ahead to 2010, which is the first right move Jim Mora has made all year. RT Sean Locklear is not expected to play this week against the Dallas Cowboys. Recently signed OT Damion McIntosh is expected to [...] Continue reading →
RENTON— No matter the sport, any teams’ success always depends on what’s in store for the future. In MLB teams have prospects (A, AA, and AAA). In the NBA they have rookies and D-league teams. Soccer, clubs have youth academies. What does the NFL have? Well college football that’s pretty much it. NFL teams don’t have youth academies, prospects and A ball and they don’t have a D-league. In the NFL teams, like other pro sports have to use their scouts to make the right picks for the future in the NFL draft. Make a right pick you’re set for the long [...] Continue reading →
