Welcome ladies and gents to the 2010 New England Patriots offseason. I'm happy to be back at it again, as money is getting exchanged in this uncapped free agency period. It's been another minute since the last time you all have heard from me, and my plan is to not give you all 2,000 words. That said, this is the time of the year where plans start getting adjusted by external factors! I'll call these reports the Hindsight Reports because all we are going to do is look back on them and judge. Let me catch you all up on what's been up the last couple of weeks (besides the Combine, more on that jazz later):
-WR Randy Moss conceded that 2010 will most likely be his last season in New England: I think what is interesting about this is that Moss' cited the fact that New England [...]

The first game in the year 2010 will be the last game of the regular season as the 8-7 Houston Texans host the 10-5 New England Patriots on Sunday, January 3, at Reliant Stadium. While the Patriots have locked up the AFC East already, this happens to be the biggest game in Houston Texans franchise history. The Texans still have a chance to make the AFC playoffs, but they do not control their own destiny. In addition to a win, the Texans need at least two losses from these three teams: the Baltimore Ravens (at Oakland), Denver Broncos (hosting Kansas City), and New York Jets (hosting Cincinnati). I don't like the Texans' chances, but I'm not here to talk about the Texans' playoff hopes, just their matchup with the Patriots. Now, the Patriots also have something to play for, as [...]

For all of the talk about the New England Patriots' struggles this season, they put together one of their most complete games of the season Sunday, defeating the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars 35-7 to clinch the AFC East division. They will host a playoff game at Gillette Stadium in January, where they went a perfect 8-0 this season.
Less than two years after completing 26 of 28 passes for 262 yards and three TDs against the Jaguars in the 2007 playoffs, Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 23 of 26 passes for 267 yards and 4 TDs! There's just something about the Jaguars secondary that makes Brady want to throw more TDs than incompletions. The Jaguars had no answer for WRs Wes Welker and Randy Moss, who accounted for 69% of Brady's yards. Welker caught 13 passes for 138 yards; [...]

Y2K Decade
With a week left in the Y2K decade, there have been many who wish to ponder which team should stand as the representative of the NFL team of the 2000s. I honestly don't feel like writing that article right now, at least not until this season ends. What I will say now is that unless the Pittsburgh Steelers win this year's Super Bowl (and call me crazy, but I think they will if they get that Wild Card), no team will have as many Super Bowl wins in this decade as the Patriots' three (2001, 2003-2004). Even since then, the Patriots have defined this decade as the team to beat. QB Tom Brady (6th round draft pick by New England in 2000) and head coach Bill Belichick (hired from New York Jets in 2000) didn't lose a playoff game until 2005. The Indianapolis Colts finally won a playoff [...]

The Buffalo Bills visited the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday and escaped with a victory improving their record to 5-8 overall and 2-1 under new head coach Perry Fewell.
Needless to say, a win is a win but it wasn't pretty. Coming into the game, the Chiefs only had three wins themselves so we can say very comfortably that this game wasn't going to be a potential postseason game or [...]

What a weird season for the New England Patriots. Even a 20-10 win over the Carolina Panthers doesn't quite feel like a victory. That's what happens when Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has to spend time addressing his roster decisions (RE: OLB Adalius Thomas getting benched). That's what happens when we have to wonder if QB Tom Brady made it through a game without a new injury (or baby). That's what happens when the other three AFC East teams also win. And that's what happens when Panthers defensive backs are commenting on the visible difference of effort between Patriots WRs Randy Moss and Wes Welker.
The victory puts the Patriots at 8-5 and they maintain their one game lead on the AFC East with three games remaining, but the seeds of dissension have been planted [...]

In the league today, there are 1,696 players, and more if you count practice squad. Of those 1,696 players, 90 are quarterbacks. Of those 90 quarterbacks, 32 are starters. Of those 32 starters, there are three you could consider first-ballot Hall of Famers (Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning), along with some others who have an argument (Donovan McNabb, Kurt Warner). Over the years, there have been some elite quarterbacks in the NFL, like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner. But one enters my mind as being a Hall of Famer - and that would be the New Orleans Saints' Drew Brees. Let's examine why he's a Hall of Famer.
Stats: As a quarterback in the modern era, there's no getting around it - the voters are going to look at stats. And Brees has them, [...]

The New England Patriots lead the AFC East with a 7-5 record, but that might be the only good news the Patriots have after losing at Land Shark Stadium to the Miami Dolphins 22-21. It was the Patriots' third loss in three games. It was QB Tom Brady's first December loss since 2006, a 21-0 loss at Miami. A week after losing to an NFC team during the regular season for the first time since September 2005, the Patriots lost two straight games for the first time since November 2006. They are 1-5 on the road, and that one win was in London against the 1-11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They even got bad news via other teams! The 12-0 Indianapolis Colts beat the 5-7 Tennessee Titans 27-17, not only ending the Titans' pipe dream winning streak, but also tying the New England Patriots' record [...]

In last Monday's epic showdown the Saints smothered the Patriots 38-17 at the Superdome. The Saints have long been a bad to mediocre franchise to say the least. This win legitimizes them as a team with an undefeated record on the line, as a franchise looking for prominence and glory, as a city looking for hope through their lovable sports team, as a group of young mean feeling as though they belong at the top of the NFL and should be considered with the NFL's cream of the crops.
The Saints should the whole country that they belonged!
There are a lot of memories from that game - one of them I will not soon forget....the Patriots' star quarterback, Tom Brady, and head coach, Bill Belichick standing-arms-crossed on the sidelines. It is not very often you see a NFL team take out their [...]

Happy Thanksgiving! The start of "Holiday Season" is today, a festive time of the year that extends from Thanksgiving until New Year's Day. It is also the time of the year when the National Football League playoff picture starts to intensify with almost every game. On Monday Night Football at the Louisiana Superdome, the 10-0 New Orleans Saints will host the 7-3 New England Patriots which may very well be the last Monday Night Football game of the season to feature two playoff teams.
The Patriots defeated the New York Jets last week 31-14 at home to bring their record in the AFC East to 3-1. The Patriots forced Jets QB Mark Sanchez into five turnovers and Patriots WR [...]
