Titans

With several teams falling just short of the playoffs this year, it begs the question, what of these teams can find a way to secure the two or three extra wins necessary to take themselves into the playoffs.  This mid-range covers all 7-9 and 8-8 teams, as well as the 9-7’s that fell short of a wildcard berth. Chicago Bears The Bear narrowly avoided entrance to the first list by way of back to back wins to close out the year.  A preseason darling for a deep postseason run, Chicago lands itself as one of the biggest disappointments of the year. Why They Can: Defensive emotional leader Brian Urlacher was gone for the year.  With him back the team will have more fire and swagger.  Jay Cutler may be turnover prone, but he can air the [...] Continue reading →
Well kids, the Bills lost again this time to the Patriots who have not won a game on the road until this past Sunday. I guess you could call this win for the Patriots a Christmas gift that was beautifully wrapped by the Bills. I am interested to see how the fans of Buffalo are holding up when I visit my family this week in western New York. Even though the Bills will be in Atlanta next weekend, I have a feeling the Bills faithful will not be too pleased about their play on the field against the Patriots. I am bummed that I will not be able to see a Bills game when I arrive, but I will be able to see a Sabres game. Thank you Lord!!! Of course, my odds are better at seeing the Sabres win a game then the Bills. The Bills continue to wind down their disappointing season with a trip to [...] Continue reading →
I want to take one last look at the final drive of the Titans-Cardinals clash that is already an instant classic, and another stunning moment in the Vince Young legacy. As a fan of the losing team, it is easy to criticize in hindsight when things didn't go your way, but I thought it might be therapeutic to add my notes of what I was thinking during the drive. We've gotta put this baby to rest so we can get prepared for the Vikings. [...] Continue reading →
I am experiencing a rare feeling after an Arizona loss—I am in a great mood. I know, I know, it doesn't make any sense. I just watched my team, whom I lost my voice for while cheering them on today, lose on a two-minute, 99-yard drive by the Titans that will instantly become a part of Vince Young's legacy. So how is that I am not absolutely crushed by this defeat? It's simple. Arizona played a fantastic game today. So did Tennessee. In a game neither team deserved to lose, Young guided Tennessee masterfully down the entire length of the field in 18 plays and 2:37 to win by 3 points on the final play of the contest. I am a Cardinals fan, but I am a football fan too, and it doesn't get any better than this. [...] Continue reading →
The Bills continued their losing ways on Sunday, compliments of the Tennessee Titans. As predicted Titans owner Bud Adams was left pondering after flicking of the Bills. The anticipated return of Trent Edwards was a complete let down. Edwards returned as the starting QB and actually looked worse than before his concussion and time off. Edwards went 18-of-28, one TD and one interception. During the game, I think once the Bills were tired of Edwards not doing anything, [...] Continue reading →
Hey fans, yes, the rumors are true about Michael Vick's adviser, former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy expressing his personal interest about Vick joining the Buffalo Bills next year. In the same conversation, the Bills were also in the mix of acquiring Vick's services before the season started along with Bengals. This of course, was after his prison sentence for dog fighting was completed. Now, I am not saying that the rumors for next season have been completely thrown out the window, but when it comes right down to it, the Bills have two starting QBs already, Edwards and Fitzpatrick. Furthermore, what has Vick done this year for the Eagles that could contribute to the success of the Bills next season? Vick, has completed 2 of 6 passes for 6 yards and rushed 12 times for 27 [...] Continue reading →
In what was a very surprising game, the Jacksonville Jaguars played flawless football and defeated the Tennessee Titans 37-17. Led by a very impressive David Garrard, the Jaguars came out hot and didn't stop. Maurice Jones-Drew only had six carries totalling 14 yards and a touchdown, but was unneeded in the second half. Rashad Jennings got to see some playing time and ran very nicely gaining 53 yards on 9 carries. Other rookies including WR Mike Thomas and CB Derek Cox played wonderful, and helped the Jaguars blow past the Titans. Mike Sims-Walker exploded for the third straight week and had 91 yards and 2 TD's. With Sims-Walker becoming the number one wide out, Holt settling in nicely at the second spot and Mike Thomas playing great, this Jaguars receiving corps is [...] Continue reading →
Previous week’s ranking in parenthesis 32. Detroit Lions 0-12 (32) At least this is a team for the ages. [...] Continue reading →
Tennessee Titans 19, Green Bay Packers 16 This may have been the best game of the day, and nearly half the people who watched it did not get to see the ending because FOX took them to their local market broadcast of New York vs. Dallas. This begs the question: if FOX has the doubleheader for the day – which they did – then why can’t the NFL just push back the start time of the Cowboys-Giants game by 15 minutes or so and give the Titans-Packers audience a chance to see a great ending to a great game? The [...] Continue reading →
