It has been a spectacular season for the Jets, as they made their improbably journey to the AFC Championship. Although they did not make it to the super bowl like they hoped for, you still have to applaud them. So without furthur ado, here are my awards from the Jets 2009 season
Rookie of the Year: Although Mark Sanchez helped get us to the post season. Shonn Greene helped lead us to the AFC Championship and for his performances, I have to give the rookie of the year to Shonn Greene. It is a very tough choice, but all Sanchez really did for the Jets is not do horrible (and even in some games he did just that), while his teammates around him have to carry the load for him to fix his mistakes. Ever since 1969, the Jets have been on the doorstep of greatness multiple times, but never getting in. Today was another one of those times, getting the door slammed on them by the Colts in a 30-17 loss in the AFC Championship.
The Jets vs. Colts match up was very similar to the last time the Jets made the AFC Championship, in 1998 versus the Broncos.
Both Jet teams had the lead, then blew it giving up a big run.
In the Jet game in 1998, the Jets led 10-0 in the early third quarter, but the Broncos rallied back and scored 23 unanswered points. As, well in the Jets vs. Colts game, the Jets were up 17-6 with 2:11 seconds to go in the half, the Jets blew it by letting the Colts score 24 unanswered points. The Jets were left taking the plane back to New York instead of Miami.

The Raiders learned Sunday that reality is harsh as they got pummeled by the Jets 38-0
Before Sunday, the Raiders came up with a big upset beating the Eagles and some players were even talking post season. Raiders Defensive Lineman Richard Seymour said: “You can mark it down, The Raiders will be in the playoffs in 2009.”
But when the scoreboard said 38-0 and Mark Sanchez was enjoying a hot dog on the sidelines, Richard Seymour probably wanted to take that statement back.
