The Cleveland Browns played their best game of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals, losing 23-20 in overtime. The Bengals, now 3-1, are a much improved team over last year. I'm sure they are very happy to leave Cleveland with a win. As for the Browns, it's another loss, 10 in a row and counting.
Defensively, Cleveland played well enough to stretch out this game through almost five quarters before Cincinnati kicked the winning 31 yard field goal with just seven seconds left in over time. I saw a lot of improvement on defense but more pressure on the QB is badly needed. Still it's a step in the right direction for once this year. Individually Shaun Rogers had a good game, as did D'Qwell Jackson. Rogers had two huge blocks of a field goal and a PAT. Brodney Pool had his best [...]

This week the Cleveland Browns will face a much bigger challenge than the Cincinnati Bengals. The challenge facing them is pride. No team wants to be considered the worst team in the NFL. No team wants to be known as the laughing stock of the league. After the first three weeks, Cleveland has become just that. A win over a good Bengals team will help keep this sinking ship upright.
Derek Anderson is being given one more chance to dispel the notion that he's just an average quarterback. Anderson will need all the fan support he can get against the Bengals. He has a very fragile ego and any booing will bring out the worst in DA. If Anderson is on his game, he can be very good. I'm hoping the very good version shows up this Sunday. The Browns offense needs a spark and he just might [...]

Donte Stallworth kills a man, pleads guilty to the charge, and gets 30 days in jail. Somehow I don't think you and I would have gotten off that easily. In case you need your memory refreshed:
Stallworth, 28, was driving drunk when he struck and killed Reyes, 59, at 7:15 a.m. on March 14. Miami-Dade police said Stallworth was driving drunk and a toxicology report showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .126, which is above Florida's legal limit of .08.
Donte Stallworth is off extremely easy. There's no other way to put it. He knows it, the entire world knows it. I'm here to make another point rather than argue whether what he did deserved life in prison or not.
In terms of [...]

You know what? It seems that every year the Cleveland Browns fall short of expectations. For the past decade now they've regularly disappointed those who thought they'd be cinderella, with the exception of 2007 (and they didn't even finish with a playoff spot in hand in that season).
Things are going to be different this year. I think we're going to see a year that is similar to the 2001 season in which they are competitive in every ball game and when they fall short on ability on paper, they'll make up for in heart and effort. It shall be a season in 2009 that no doubt sees the usual amount of heartbreakers and losses in games that they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory; but they'll also win a few that they [...]
