The Seahawks have officially released veteran safety Deon Grant the team announced this afternoon. Grant joined the Seahawks back in 2007 when he signed a six-year $31.8 million dollar contract which at the time made Grant the third highest paid safety in the NFL behind the Ravens Ed Reed and the Cowboys Roy Williams.
Grant was a part of that "home run hitting" free agent class that Seattle attempted to bring in which also included defensive end Patrick Kerney, guard Kris Deilman and tight end Daniel Graham. Graham and Deilman rejected offers to come to Seattle and instead chose Denver and San Diego respectively.
