From the Depths of 0-3, the Dolphins have climbed back to .500 with, appropriately enough, a 5-5 record. After a tough battle against the Panthers, we now have to travel up to Buffalo to take on a struggling Bills team, who at 3-7, have nothing to gain but ruining our season.
As you may remember, the Dolphins domination of the Bills at home was their first win of the season, and the first start of Henne's career. You would think after the way we handled them that it should be a breeze of a game, but much has changed since then. For the Dolphins, they will be without defensive anchor Jason Ferguson (lost for the season with a quad injury), and maybe more importantly, Ronnie Brown.
In the first match up, Ronnie Brown toted the rock 20 times for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns. [...]

Well, I've kind of been waiting for this news to come out before I took a look back to the Tampa game or forward to Carolina tomorrow night. Well, the news is in and it is as bad as it possibly could have been. Even at 4-5 we were second in the division by virtue of sweeping the Jets, and had an outside shot of making the Playoffs. That task just got a LOT tougher.
As you are probably already aware, Ronnie Brown went out of the game after a long run that ended in a fumble. At first, it looked like he had twisted his ankle- which is what I was hoping and praying for. Today, however, my worst fears were realized- Ronnie Brown is being placed on IR with an undisclosed foot injury (Lisfranc anyone?).
Ronnie was responsible for 648 rushing yards (47% of total rushing yards, [...]

After facing one of the hottest teams in the league last week in the Patriots, the Dolphins now get to play one of the worst in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their lone win of the season came last week against a Green Bay team that many anticipated would be very good this season. So did starting rookie QB Josh Freeman give the Bucs the spark they needed to turn the corner, or is Green Bay just terrible? In my opinion, it is kind of the latter one. The Bucs are still in heavy rebuilding mode, and are not stocked with very much talent right now- so these keys should be short and sweet- in fact, there are really only two main points:
Make the rookie QB look like a rookie: Josh Freeman got his first NFL start last Sunday, and his first NFL win. He did look [...]

The defense looked like they didn't want to win this game. When they made plays, the refs were sure to step in and "correct" it (seriously- that pass interference call on Allen was bush league). If you told me the Dolphins would surrender their first 100+ yard rushing game, would only get to Sanchez one time, had zero turnovers, and had 112 yards in penalties, then I would tell you we lose this game big time. Instead, after 5 lead changes in the 4th quarter, Henne thoroughly outperformed his rookie counterpart and delivered the W in a game that rivals the first time the Phins broke out the Orange Jerseys for excitement and satisfaction.
This defense held:
the Matt Schaub/Andre Johnson combination to 166 yards, a 54.5 completion %, 0 TDs and 1 INT.
Tom [...]

For the second time this season, the Miami Dolphins are featured Monday night at primetime. A pair of streaks will be competing to stay alive: The Dolphins haven't won a primetime game since December of 2004 (a 10-7 win over Cleveland), but they are breaking out their orange alternate jerseys- which the Dolphins are undefeated in (2-0). Obviously, we are hoping for the latter streak to win out- and here is how I think we'll have to do it:
The Jets got a lot of publicity this year after going 3-0 with rookie Mark Sanchez at the wheel. Last week though, they ran into a meat grinder of a team in the New Orleans Saints, who somewhat exposed Sanchez and provided the Dolphins with a template for victory.
Lean on the run: This one is pretty obvious. With Chad [...]

And there goes Ronnie Brown for a three-yard touchdown run! The Dolphins are up, 20-13. Brown has been looking swell against this Colts' shaky defense right now. Oh, but here comes rookie running back Donald Brown, as he breaks away for a 15-yard touchdown, his first of the season and his career!
With 3:50 left in the game, Dolphins' Dan Carpenter has now hit a 45-yard field goal which may seal the deal for Miami as they lead, 23-20. Here goes the Colts, who have been completely dominated by the Fins in the time of possession and it is right now not looking good, not at all.
Peyton Manning takes the snap, drops back, finds Pierrre Garcon at the screen. And look, here he goes! To the twenty, to the ten, to the five, touchdown Colts! With 3:18 left, I don't think [...]

The Indianapolis Colts have showed signs of hope and some major improvement after Sunday's 14-12 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts defense played strong in the victory. Peyton Manning had a solid performance, going 28-of-38 for 301 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Manning played strong and was showing [...]

The unusually quiet off season has continued for the Dolphins. Its a bad thing for writers and bloggers, but overall a great thing for fans. As they say- no news is good news. That means no one associated with the team is holding out, getting arrested, or generally making an ass of themself in public. There are, however, a few things worth noting:
Training camp around the corner:
The Dolphins have announced their practice schedule- and a total of 21 will be open to Dol-fanatics if you happen to be in the area. Camp starts off with a two a day on August 2nd, and they continue until August 20th. You can get the full schedule here: http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/news/top_story.asp?contentID=6502 I'll warn you from personal experience though- bring [...]

After the Dolphins drafted Pat White, even a soccer fan could tell you that the Dolphins planned on expanding the WildCat playbook next year. It was obvious by years end that teams had learned to make Ronnie Brown beat them with his arm, as they stacked the box and blitzed every gap which severely limited the effectiveness of the WildCat formation. While some thought that the WildCat was dead after it fizzled out as the year wore on, the use of a high second round draft pick on Pat White clearly refutes that. Simply put, you don't waste a second round pick on a developmental WR/KR that has never caught a pass or fielded a kick. White was an explosive zone-read/spread QB in college, clearly this regime plans on getting White on the field as the WildCat triggerman.
The big [...]
