Philadelphia Eagles

There are certain athletes in professional sports that establish a reputation as fan favorites among the city they play in. When the Philadelphia Eagles released Hank Baskett prior to the 2009 season, fans said goodbye to a player who provided plenty of memories during the first three years of his career. After one season with the Indianapolis Colts, Baskett will return to the team he started his career off with after signing a one-year deal with the Eagles. While he never possessed the skills as a top wideout for Philadelphia, Baskett provided the Eagles with a number of big plays over his three years [...] Continue reading →
Now that Jake Delhomme is no longer with the Carolina Panthers, the only question that remains to be answered is who will start at quarterback for John Fox in 2010. As of now, the leading candidate appears to be Matt Moore, who started the final five games of the regular season last year and will be entering his fourth season with the Panthers. However, there is one player who could end up competing for the starting job in Carolina next season. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. After playing as the third-string quarterback and spending most of the 2009 season for random plays in the Wild Cat formation, Vick already [...] Continue reading →
Despite an early exit in the first round of the playoffs after their loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles should be proud for finishing eighth after Old Spice announced the first ever NFL Swagger Rankings. The rankings were released by Old Spice—who teamed up with ESPN analyst and former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson—to determine which teams in the NFL have the most swagger. After analyzing statistics [...] Continue reading →
When Jerry Jones originally traded for Roy Williams, everyone I corresponded with that knew anything about the Dallas Cowboys thought that Williams was going to be opposite Terrell Owens. When Owens was released, I was shocked because not only did we let go of a guy who is a Hall of Fame receiver, but we now had Roy Williams as our number one target. It made me very nervous to say the least because when you look at Roy Williams in a uniform, he reminds you of Owens and Hall of Fame Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin. Tall man at about 6'4 and 210 lbs, long arms, broad shoulders, [...] Continue reading →
Before Sunday's playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb knew he was on the hot seat. Unfortunately, the 34-14 loss increased the temperature of his seat to an uncomfortable level. While Eagles head coach Andy Reid announced McNabb will be his starting quarterback next season two days after the recent playoff loss to the Cowboys, Philadelphia fans seem to be unhappy with the decision. For some, Sunday's loss to Dallas was the final straw in the 11 seasons of disappointment during the McNabb era. Seven playoff appearances with a 10-8 record. Five NFC Championship appearances in eight seasons. [...] Continue reading →
This has been the greatest moment of the new generation Cowboy fans. After constant losing seasons, coaching changes, quarterback changes, and the ten year sentence of watching the Philadelphia Eagles go to playoffs, a place that Dallas had, historically, called its common-law housewife. The Dallas Cowboys have won a playoff game and have defeated the Eagles for a spot in the divisional round against Minnesota next week. The Dallas Cowboys, for the first time, have defeated a division rival three times in a year. It had never happened before, but the Dallas Cowboys ignored the history and wrote their own January 9, 2010 in Cowboys Stadium. As a Dallas fan who can't even legally drink alcohol yet, I have to say this is the greatest moment in my life as a Cowboys fan. The Dallas [...] Continue reading →
First, I want to apologize for my leave of absence. I've no reasonable excuse to explain why I have not written except a combination of holidays, homework, laziness, and writer's block. Thankfully though, I have found my muse and I'm ready to write and see Dallas go to playoffs. It has been as tough a year as it has been magical. The tough part is losses to the Giants, the Broncos, the Packers, and the Chargers, but still to finish this season with back to back shutouts against division rivals is remarkable. The Redskins win was one that redeemed us for our horrid win of 7-6 last time. Even though Al [...] Continue reading →
This was the last situation the Philadelphia Eagles wanted to experience at the end of the season; a loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 to lose the NFC East title. Not to mention their missed opportunity as the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs. There's no doubt how much the loss to the Cowboys hurts for not only the Eagles, but their fans that seem to ride this same roller coaster each season. Philadelphia gets hot towards the end of the season and seems to be one of the favorites in the NFC entering postseason play. Once they get to that point where it seems [...] Continue reading →
With the holiday season wrapping up, the Philadelphia Eagles are sending a special thanks to the Chicago Bears--especially quarterback Jay Cutler and wide receiver Devin Aromashodu. After the Bears upset the Minnesota Vikings in overtime on Monday Night Football, the Eagles control their own destiny and have a chance to lock up the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye with a win over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday. The Vikings seemed to be a lock for the second seed in the NFC a few weeks ago, but have dropped three of their last four games after beginning the season 10-1. As exciting as this may be [...] Continue reading →
After a frustrating first 11 games of the regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles have found a way to use quarterback Michael Vick effectively in the offense the last two weeks in wins over the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants. Prior to a Week 13 matchup against the Falcons, the only significant part about the Vick signing was a 34-yard run against the Chicago Bears in Week 11. In the first seven games of the season, he completed just 2-of-7 passes for a total of six yards. He also struggled to gain anything with his legs, running for just 27 yards on just 12 attempts. While it's hard to criticize his performance [...] Continue reading →
