The Philadelphia Eagles remained in the NFC playoff hunt with their second straight come from behind win in a 27-24 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday. With wide receiver DeSean Jackson sidelined due to a concussion, the Eagles needed all the extra help they could get on offense from their young guys.
Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb helped his team overcome an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter and score 11 unanswered points. Rookie running back LeSean McCoy provided a strong running game for the Eagles throughout the fourth quarter and finished with 76 yards on the ground--including a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to tie the [...]

There once was a wide receiver on the Philadelphia Eagles who wore No. 81 and would be unstoppable for opposing teams to defend.
While his time has come and gone in the City of Brotherly Love, the Eagles have to be satisfied with the latest performance of another wide receiver wearing the No. 81 jersey.
Before Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles WR Jason Avant had just 15 receptions for 198 yards in the eight games he played in so far during the 2009 season. In 46 games, he's recorded 77 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns.
On Sunday, Avant had the best game of his four-year career, hauling in eight receptions [...]

Tom Brady has Randy Moss. Peyton Manning has Reggie Wayne (and had Marvin Harrison for a while). Even Steve Young had Jerry Rice to help make his life easier.
In the NFL, a team has a better chance of winning when their quarterback has a dominant wide receiver to throw the ball to. For the Philadelphia Eagles, they have managed to be successful for most of this decade, despite all of the years they lacked a true No. 1 wide receiver.
Throughout [...]

When former Missouri WR Jeremy Maclin was available after the first 18 picks in the 2009 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles knew they needed to make a move quickly to draft a player they never expected to be available late in the first round. After a trade with the Cleveland Browns, the Eagles selected Maclin with the 19th overall pick in the draft.
There were high expectations for Maclin considering the type of career he had at [...]

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett was well known throughout the NFL as the player married to Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson. From a fan's perspective in the City of Brotherly Love, he will always be remembered for the big plays he provided the Eagles with over the last three years.
Baskett's career with the Eagles came to an end this week when the team placed on waivers after quarterback Jeff Garcia was signed as insurance in case Donovan McNabb's rib injury is more serious than expected. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Baskett will sign with the Indianapolis Colts to give [...]

After tight end Tony Curtis' performance for the Philadelphia Eagles against the New York Jets last week, a game in which he hauled in four recpetions for 40 yards and one touchdown, there was excitement brewing up in the City of Brotherly Love. Even though it was only one game, Curtis seemed like he may be able to make a major contribution to the Eagles offense this upcoming season considering their situation at tight end.
Unfortunately for Curtis, the Eagles believed they were better off with Alex Smith at tight end.
The Eagles released Curtis to make room for Smith at the tight end position. Smith was cut by the New England [...]

Throughout his career, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has faced his fair share of criticism.
When the Eagles selected him with the No. 2 pick overall in 1999, he was booed by fans who wanted Ricky Williams instead. His controversy with Rush Limbaugh shed light on the issue of African-American quarterbacks in the league. Even this past November, he dealt with criticism after head coach Andy Reid benched him in the second half during a 36-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
If he fails to win a Super Bowl by the time he decides to call it quits, McNabb's legacy in Philadelphia may be remembered for the five NFC Championship game appearances in eight years without a championship. However, he should be considered for the group of wide receivers he has played with over his [...]

When looking back at some of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, most of them have had that star receiver to throw to that made their lives a little bit easier.
Steve Young had Jerry Rice. Peyton Manning had Marvin Harrison. Even Troy Aikman had Michael Irvin to help the Cowboys win three straight Super Bowls in the 90's.
For most of his career, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has played without that star wide receiver. Him and Terrell Owens had the potential to be one of the best dynamic duos in NFL history after they connected for 20 touchdowns in 21 games from 2004-2005. Unfortunately, the Eagles released Owens halfway through the 2005 season after he became too much of a headache for the Joe Banner and the rest of the franchise to [...]
