The Saints WON!
What a game!!!
That first quarter was scary if you were a Saints fan and even going into half time with the score 6-10. But the Saints have been down before and came to win 31-17. One of the most impressive numbers is the fact that the Saints' defense held the Colts' offense to 17 points. The tenacious Jets defense could not even do that, and what is really impressive is that the Saints had a similar game to the one they played against the Vikings in the NFC Championship game. Here are some of the statistics:
Total Yards:
Colts: 432 Saints: 332
3rd Downs:
Colts: 6 out of 13 Saints: 3 out of 9
Rushing: Attempts/Yards/Average
Colts: 19/99/5.2 Saints: 18/51/2.8
Passing: Attempts/ Yards/Average
Colts: 31-45/333/7.4 Saints: [...]

As a Colts fan, this game really disappointed me. But hey, the New Orleans Saints wanted it more. They needed this. After all New Orleans has gone through for the past few years with Hurricane Katrina and all that. Along with that, the Saints were never a good football team. The NFC Championship was the farthest they’ve ever gone before the season started. And they only made the NFC Championship once in their life.
The Saints were undervalued. With losing to teams like the Buccaneers with their starters, the Saints were not favorites entering the playoffs. They proved everyone wrong. And then, the heroics of Tracy Porter came in the NFC Championship game. After that pick, it was over. It happened last night in the Super Bowl, against a high-powered Colts’ team.
The first quarter [...]

According to NFL Fanhouse, Jim Irsay plans to pay Peyton Manning sometime and it would make Manning the highest-paid player in NFL history.
"We know that Peyton's going to be the highest-paid player in the league," Irsay said. "It'll get done. There's no question about that, and it's something we'll focus on in the offseason."
And plus, Manning could make up big for this deal if the Colts win the Super Bowl. All is going good for the Colts'
"messiah."
More of this story can be seen [...]

With the Super Bowl in a bit over a week away, there is one thing on the Saints mind: talking trash. That’s right. The Saints have been talking a lot of trash with the Colts lately and Indianapolis really isn’t worried about any of this at all.
“You know this guy [Manning] has a great clock in his head. The big thing is he throws the ball so early that we are going to have to do a good job of finding ways to get to him,” Gregg Williams, Saints’ defensive coordinator, told radio station WGFX. “When we do get to him, we are going to make sure to have a couple of remember-me shots on him when we get there.”
I’d look forward to see Manning taking control of this Saints’ defense.
“We’ll let our game speak for ourselves,” Colts’ tackle Charlie Johnson [...]

Oh man, oh man, what a game this was! Heading into this game were the underdog New York Jets, who looked to surprise the Colts again like they did 40 years ago when Joe Namath and the Jets shocked the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. It looked like from the first half. In the first quarter, both teams were punished by the strong defenses. There were punts flying left and right. This also included a field goal miss by Jay Feely, who is among the many kickers who have been struggling this postseason.
The first score came when the Colts failed to deliver a touchdown in the red zone. That meant they had to settle for a field goal. Matt Stover put it up right, and in. 3-0. But everything changed after that. Here came Mark Sanchez, with a powerful run fake and pump fake to trick Dwight [...]

A lot of people have been saying a lot of crap about the Indianapolis Colts. They say the Colts are going to lose another playoff game just like every other time they are one-or-two-seeded team. Well, listen here: it’s not going to happen this time.
Yeah, the Baltimore Ravens shocked the New England Patriots, but I don’t see them beating a team like Indy.
Also, a lot of guys have been saying the Colts care about individual stats more than they want to go 19-0. Okay, seriously, who cares about going 19-0, okay? Really? Yeah, I was rooting for them to go for it, but it won’t matter really. So what if you go 16-0? What if you lose in the playoffs, huh? The Colts will then most likely have too much confidence and think every team is easy.
Just ask [...]

The Bills capped off the end of the 2009-10 season with a snow storm of a victory over the visiting Indianapolis Colts 30-7. I must admit, I was quite pleased with the effort the Bills put into this game being they were not going to face all the great talent on the Colts roster. Why did the Bills not face the talent you may ask? Well, the Colts are in the playoffs with a first-week bye and home-field advantage throughout. Of course, all of us know what the Bills will be doing this off-season, right?
Regardless of the off-season, the Bills and their players put up wonderful and somewhat impressive numbers last Sunday. The key components to the victory were the offense found the end zone, Bills QB, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw no interceptions and the defense actually tackled and somewhat [...]

The Indianapolis Colts recently just placed backup quarterack Jim Sorgi on IR. That just leaves more help for Curtis Painter, who has been playing football in Indiana for pretty much his whole life.
Painter has just now moved up to the second spot in the depth chart behind Peyton Manning (who would replace him?).
“I guess it moves me up. Now I’m one step away instead of two,” Painter told the Indianapolis Star. “It changes in that sense, but not really, because in this league you’ve got to be ready at any time. So I’ve really tried to take that approach the whole time.”
Painter had thrown for 381 passing yards and completed almost 60 percent of [...]

In the league today, there are 1,696 players, and more if you count practice squad. Of those 1,696 players, 90 are quarterbacks. Of those 90 quarterbacks, 32 are starters. Of those 32 starters, there are three you could consider first-ballot Hall of Famers (Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning), along with some others who have an argument (Donovan McNabb, Kurt Warner). Over the years, there have been some elite quarterbacks in the NFL, like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner. But one enters my mind as being a Hall of Famer - and that would be the New Orleans Saints' Drew Brees. Let's examine why he's a Hall of Famer.
Stats: As a quarterback in the modern era, there's no getting around it - the voters are going to look at stats. And Brees has them, [...]
