The Seahawks have officially released veteran safety Deon Grant the team announced this afternoon. Grant joined the Seahawks back in 2007 when he signed a six-year $31.8 million dollar contract which at the time made Grant the third highest paid safety in the NFL behind the Ravens Ed Reed and the Cowboys Roy Williams.
Grant was a part of that "home run hitting" free agent class that Seattle attempted to bring in which also included defensive end Patrick Kerney, guard Kris Deilman and tight end Daniel Graham. Graham and Deilman rejected offers to come to Seattle and instead chose Denver and San Diego respectively.
Deon Grant was scheduled to make [...]

This isn't Pete Carroll's first go around as an NFL head coach but it is his first off season as a NFL head coach AND executive vice president. Not only is Carroll the EVP and head coach but if there is a discrepancy between Carroll and new general manager John Schneider, Pete Carroll would win the coin flip 100 percent of the time.
According to Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke the team will be built around both Carroll and Schneider but should their be a discrepancy about a trade/signing/draft pick Carroll would be awarded his decision because the team is going to be built around Carroll's philosophy.
Now as [...]

Julius Peppers, a soon to be free agent this off season will be one of if not the most highly touted commodity when free agency officially starts on March 5th.
Today Peppers came out to the media and said he is not willing nor will he sign a long term contract with the Carolina Panthers, which all but makes him an official unrestricted free agent because he has more than six years of NFL experience.
So now starts the bevy of articles flying around about where Julius Peppers should and might sign when March 5th comes around.
The Saints, Eagles, Chiefs, Patriots and about a dozen other teams could be looking at Peppers. One of those [...]

As the final touches are being made on Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll's coaching
staff there are two more names being added on.
Former Seahawk and USC Trojan DB coach Kris Richard will join Carroll as the assistant defensive backs coach to Jerry Gray (Seahawks DB coach).
Also joining the staff is former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Jeff Ulbrich who will serve as the teams assistant special teams coach to Brian Scheider.
As of now here is the current coaching staff under Pete Carroll.
Offense:
Offensive coordinator: Jeremy Bates
Quarterbacks coach: Jedd Fisch
Running backs coach: Sherman Smith
Wide receivers coach: Kippy [...]

Continuing the series of no-name Seahawks players that fans should watch out for takes us to rookie DE Nick Reed.
Why do I consider Nick Reed a no name player? Well there are three reasons for that...
1) Reed was a seventh round (247th overall) in the 2009 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks.

In 2010 the NFL pro bowl will be played in Miami Florida, instead of Hawaii. Now last season the Seahawks had one loan pro bowl on their roster. That player, Julian Peterson, is now in Detroit. Usual Seahawks like Walter Jones, Lofa Tatupu, Patrick Kerney, Matt Hasselbeck etc. Non of them played the entire season and none of them made the pro bowl.
In my last article I talked about three Seahawks who are key to the success of the offense. Now I have selected three players on defense who have a great shot at the Pro bowl and are key to the success on defense.
1) The entire LB corps (Leroy Hill, Lofa Tatupu and Aaron Curry)
Examination: The most expensive part of the Seahawks defense, and the second most expensive position on the entire roster next to WR. [...]
