Packers

It has taken me a while to muster up enough strength to write this article after the Vikings devastating loss in the NFC Championship. It was a tough pill to swallow and I will touch on it in this season review, but there were so many better moments in the season I want to get to as well. So lets start this wild review by getting that awful NFC Championship Game out of the way first. It was one of the most gut wrenching games I have watched and as we all know it ended in disaster. The Vikings dominated every phase of the game, except for the all important turnover battle. The interception heard around the world, as Brett Favre committed quarterback sacrilege by throwing across his body, ripped the hearts out of Vkings’ fans everywhere. It was a terrible way to end the season, but it [...] Continue reading →
In the NBA you have Kobe or LeBron. In the NHL you have Crosby vs Ovechkin. For the most part in the NFL it's always been Brady vs Manning deciding who's the best quarterback in the NFL. I decided to go beyond the usual comparison of who is the best quarterback in the NFL right now with Manning and Brady. I decided to compare two forty year old quarterbacks who've been making "comebacks" for three years now. Warner with Arizona and Favre with Green Bay, NY Jets and most recently Minnesota. I've never heard someone compare Brett Favre and Kurt Warner so I decided to be the first and even [...] Continue reading →
While the Cardinals pieced together a calculated patchwork of backups and starters on pitch counts, the Packers played three quarters of the game as if the outcome mattered. Only time till tell which strategy was the right one, but there were clearly two entirely different approaches to yesterday's game between Green Bay and Arizona. Green Bay chose their poison: momentum, flow, sync and confidence, wanting to start the postseason on a roll . Arizona selected their strategy: to rest players, hold their cards close to their vest so as to reveal virtually nothing. The result is that Cardinals fans are quick to point out that it appeared the Arizona [...] Continue reading →
Minnesota hosts the New York Giants in an early Sunday game, and the outcome will dictate the Arizona Cardinals' game plan for their later game slot against the Green Bay Packers. If the Vikings win the Cardinals will surely fall back on plan B, which will be to rest key players and keep the game plan as plain as Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream. With the strong likelihood of facing the Packers the following week on the same field in the first round of the playoffs, it would be foolish to reveal too much to Green Bay. If the Vikings lose, the Cardinals will be gunning for the #2 NFC seed. Of course, they will [...] Continue reading →
In the most complete game Arizona has played since upending the Vikings three weeks ago, the Cardinals took care of business by ousting the undermanned Rams 31-10 to earn 10 wins for the first time since 1976. With the NFC West crown wrapped up last weekend, the Cardinals also still have an outside chance of earning the No.2 seed in the NFC playoffs should the Vikings lose their last two games. Aside from that, this game served primarily as a much needed tune-up for the playoffs after two shaky outings. The game featured several milestones: Kurt Warner became only the second QB in NFL history to pass for [...] Continue reading →

Tennessee Titans 19, Green Bay Packers 16 This may have been the best game of the day, and nearly half the people who watched it did not get to see the ending because FOX took them to their local market broadcast of New York vs. Dallas. This begs the question: if FOX has the doubleheader for the day – which they did – then why can’t the NFL just push back the start time of the Cowboys-Giants game by 15 minutes or so and give the Titans-Packers audience a chance to see a great ending to a great game? The [...] Continue reading →
