It took a couple of emails back and fourth to get the time and the date to work for both Vince and myself but I finally got the chance to interview one of my most inspirational football players ever, former Eagles Wide Receiver Vince Papale.
It was a 45 minute phone interview and our topics varied from Papale's era to modern day to the controversial Brett Favre. With that being said here is my interview with Vince Papale. We are both watching the Giants-Redskins game on MNF while the interview took place.
Lars: Hey Vince
Vince: Hey Lars whats up, give me one second.
Vince: You [...]

Happy Thanksgiving! The start of "Holiday Season" is today, a festive time of the year that extends from Thanksgiving until New Year's Day. It is also the time of the year when the National Football League playoff picture starts to intensify with almost every game. On Monday Night Football at the Louisiana Superdome, the 10-0 New Orleans Saints will host the 7-3 New England Patriots which may very well be the last Monday Night Football game of the season to feature two playoff teams.
The Patriots defeated the New York Jets last week 31-14 at home to bring their record in the AFC East to 3-1. The Patriots forced Jets QB Mark Sanchez into five turnovers and Patriots WR [...]

With the way the Washington Redskins have performed this season, one would think the Philadelphia Eagles would have no trouble leaving FedEx Field with a victory on Monday Night Football.
After last week's loss to the Oakland Raiders, the Eagles realize they need to take this Redskins' team serious to avoid a second straight loss--especially with the success the Skins have against them the last two seasons.
Monday night's matchup consists of two teams looking to avoid ending the week at the [...]

The defense looked like they didn't want to win this game. When they made plays, the refs were sure to step in and "correct" it (seriously- that pass interference call on Allen was bush league). If you told me the Dolphins would surrender their first 100+ yard rushing game, would only get to Sanchez one time, had zero turnovers, and had 112 yards in penalties, then I would tell you we lose this game big time. Instead, after 5 lead changes in the 4th quarter, Henne thoroughly outperformed his rookie counterpart and delivered the W in a game that rivals the first time the Phins broke out the Orange Jerseys for excitement and satisfaction.
This defense held:
the Matt Schaub/Andre Johnson combination to 166 yards, a 54.5 completion %, 0 TDs and 1 INT.

For the second time this season, the Miami Dolphins are featured Monday night at primetime. A pair of streaks will be competing to stay alive: The Dolphins haven't won a primetime game since December of 2004 (a 10-7 win over Cleveland), but they are breaking out their orange alternate jerseys- which the Dolphins are undefeated in (2-0). Obviously, we are hoping for the latter streak to win out- and here is how I think we'll have to do it:
The Jets got a lot of publicity this year after going 3-0 with rookie Mark Sanchez at the wheel. Last week though, they ran into a meat grinder of a team in the New Orleans Saints, who somewhat exposed Sanchez and provided the Dolphins with a template for victory.
Lean on the run: This one is pretty obvious. With Chad [...]

The Carolina Panthers continued their depressing start to the 2009 season by losing their third consecutive game on Monday Night Football in Dallas.
The Cowboys overcame a shaky first half to score 21 unanswered points in the second half and beat a Panthers team that is nosediving quickly less than a quarter of the way through the season.
For Panthers fans, Monday night's loss was likely the most disconcerting of the young season to date as the team played uninspired football in the second half against a Cowboys team who was begging to be beat.
The numbers are startling from any angle you choose to look at them.
Let's get right into 'The Elevator' and try to figure out just what in the world is wrong with this team.

Before we get into Monday nights game, I' like to say sorry I didn't have any updates after the Atlanta game. I was simply too disgusted with the sloppiness I saw on the field. The reason for the loss was fairly simple: we gave away too many opportunities. Whether it was whiffing on blocks, poor tackling, missed assignments, or turning the ball over, it looked like the Dolphins didn't want to win this game. We actually outgained the Falcons 4.6 yards per play vs. 4.3 yards per play- the difference being that Atlanta ran 65 plays to the Dolphins 56- mainly due to two untimely fumbles, and and interception that killed promising drives and lead to Atlanta points. A stout run defense that held the Falcons to 2.5 YPC kept us in the game, but our young secondary gave up too many plays [...]

Many of you have heard by now that the New England Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills 25-24 on Monday Night Football. A great majority of you saw the Leodis McKelvin fumble that set up Tom Brady's go-ahead touchdown to Ben Watson, a pass that was nearly identical to the touchdown pass that led to kicking off to McKelvin. I'm also quite sure that those who witnessed the improbable Patriots comeback just had to see if the Bills were still destined to win the game in the final minute with two timeouts and were excited when Terrell Owens caught a deep pass over the middle ... only to then watch Trent Edwards get sacked twice. It took me a few days to fully take this one in. I knew that there was a double header on Monday Night Football, but I didn't realize that it was in the same [...]
