Minnesota Vikings

As a Colts fan, this game really disappointed me. But hey, the New Orleans Saints wanted it more. They needed this. After all New Orleans has gone through for the past few years with Hurricane Katrina and all that. Along with that, the Saints were never a good football team. The NFC Championship was the farthest they’ve ever gone before the season started. And they only made the NFC Championship once in their life. The Saints were undervalued. With losing to teams like the Buccaneers with their starters, the Saints were not favorites entering the playoffs. They proved everyone wrong. And then, the heroics of Tracy Porter came in the NFC Championship game. After that pick, it was over. It happened last night in the Super Bowl, against a high-powered Colts’ team. The first quarter [...] Continue reading →
It is the classic scenario, who would win talent or heart? On paper it appears as though the Vikings would have won the game with some of the statistics piled up in last Sunday's NFC Championship game. But the Saints play with unextinguishable fire that fuels the Super Dome and the city of New Orleans....which was evident after the game was over and the streets of downtown New Orleans were flooded, not with water, but with fans cheering in celebration of their team's victory and advancing to the Super Bowl!!! When you look at the statistics it seems like the Saints should have lost this game by at least a touchdown if not more points. But what the Saints had on their side that game was the thing that they have had on their side all season long....heart. There a ton of categories [...] Continue reading →
It has just been reported that Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie has been kicked off of the NFC Pro Bowl team, because he missed practice on Friday and Saturday. Personally, I think this is ridiculous. Can the NFL and Roger Goodell relax a little and realize that nobody, including the players care about the Pro Bowl. Yes, everyone likes to get recognition for having a good season, so they all like to be selected to the Pro Bowl roster but nobody cares about the actual game. I just think that it is a shame that someone like McKinnie who had a great year is being punished because he missed two practices for a game that does not matter one bit. Can the NFL start to use some common sense when it comes to making decisions. I mean this is a guy who was a major part of a [...] Continue reading →
It has taken me a while to muster up enough strength to write this article after the Vikings devastating loss in the NFC Championship. It was a tough pill to swallow and I will touch on it in this season review, but there were so many better moments in the season I want to get to as well. So lets start this wild review by getting that awful NFC Championship Game out of the way first. It was one of the most gut wrenching games I have watched and as we all know it ended in disaster. The Vikings dominated every phase of the game, except for the all important turnover battle. The interception heard around the world, as Brett Favre committed quarterback sacrilege by throwing across his body, ripped the hearts out of Vkings’ fans everywhere. It was a terrible way to end the season, but it [...] Continue reading →
I've been away from the game for a while, ever since I predicted that the Baltimore Ravens would end the New England Patriots' season two weeks ago.  Since then, a lot of things have gone down in the league, some of them related to the Patriots: *QB Tom Brady and WR Randy Moss pulling out of the Pro Bowl due to injury.  Which pretty much confirmed what we already knew, that the Patriots just didn't have much left at the end of the season... *Questions surrounding the future of Patriots RBs Kevin Faulk and Fred Taylor.  Both are over 30, and with the shaky production of RB Laurence Maroney after four seasons, there will be some shake-up.  There is no way the Patriots are bringing back the same five running backs. *Starting RG Stephen Neal is contemplating retirement.  The [...] Continue reading →
In the NBA you have Kobe or LeBron. In the NHL you have Crosby vs Ovechkin. For the most part in the NFL it's always been Brady vs Manning deciding who's the best quarterback in the NFL. I decided to go beyond the usual comparison of who is the best quarterback in the NFL right now with Manning and Brady. I decided to compare two forty year old quarterbacks who've been making "comebacks" for three years now. Warner with Arizona and Favre with Green Bay, NY Jets and most recently Minnesota. I've never heard someone compare Brett Favre and Kurt Warner so I decided to be the first and even [...] Continue reading →
Everything that has happened this year in the NFC has built up to the NFC Championship which will take place on Sunday in New Orleans. The game will pit two strong offenses, and two opportune defenses against each other, as the Minnesota Vikings challenge the New Orleans Saints. Coming into the playoffs the numbers pointed to these two teams as the most likely match up; the Saints finished the regular season with a 13-3 record and grabbed home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and the Vikings countered with a very impressive 12-4 record to secure the second seed in the NFC. Some pointed to the Cowboys as a team that could break up this match up and others said it was going to be Cardinals, but both were easily ousted and we are left with the best possible match up. Come game time [...] Continue reading →
Well, you can't win them all. As a person and fan, I've have to learn to accept that. Sometimes you don't win the big games. This game the Cowboys lost while it is tragic they did, you can't win them all. There are some days where it would have been close, where Dallas would've won, where Minnesota would've won, where one is a blowout like today or a close one. It comes down to who played the better game that day and that was Minnesota. This loss was painful, but Dallas wasn't horrible, Minnesota was just good. If I may, I'd like to drift off for a second. Before I realized that [...] Continue reading →
Everywhere I look I see the Vikings as the number three team in the NFL, only behind the undefeated Colts and Saints. But are the Vikings really that good? After all they were recently dominated by a Arizona Cardinals team, who turned around the next week and were utterly embarrassed on national television by the sub 500 San Francisco 49ers. So, are the Vikings truly the third best team in the NFL? No, they are close, but as of right now the Vikings don’t deserve to be ranked as high as third. If we were talking about who is having the best season so far, then sure I would definitely have thee the Vikings at third overall. But that it not what power rankings are supposed to be about. Too many people who do power rankings get wrapped up in the teams records and play throughout the [...] Continue reading →
The Raiders stink. I wanted to write about something relevant in the NFL besides a head coach living a soap opera. So I thought I would post a piece about Brett Favre, because that poor guy just doesn't get enough attention. For all of you clamoring for more information on the silver and black, don't worry-- I will get back to more Raidercentric pieces later this week. So stay tuned, because I may accuse Tom Cable of assaulting me. As Vikings defensive end Jared Allen said, "You just don’t turn your back on 16 years of greatness." One thing I know after Sunday, November One is: Jared Allen is absolutely correct. No one turns their back on 16 years of [...] Continue reading →
