Matt Cassel

The time has come where we transition from one season into two different seasons. The playoffs and post season and the off season aka looking ahead to the 2010 NFL draft. So far Cal running back Jahvid Best, Tennessee safety Eric Berry, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen and other projected first round picks have already declared for the 2010 Draft. So with that being said my first mock draft of 2010 is here. My mock draft order follows the offical order. 1) St Louis Rams: Ndamukong Suh, DT Nebraska Examination: Well the [...] Continue reading →
The Buffalo Bills visited the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday and escaped with a victory improving their record to 5-8 overall and 2-1 under new head coach Perry Fewell. Needless to say, a win is a win but it wasn't pretty. Coming into the game, the Chiefs only had three wins themselves so we can say very comfortably that this game wasn't going to be a potential postseason game or [...] Continue reading →
Anytime you face a situation where you instantly feel pessimistic about the results, it's usually never a good thing. Then again, when you face a team who was the 2007 Super Bowl champions, and one of the top 3 teams in 2008, things seem to be alittle bit easier on you. Sunday the Chiefs will face their biggest test of the season when they host the New York Giants. The "G-Men" aren't exactly a team you can make a gameplan around. Usually with teams, you could pick out the "weakness" in an opponent, and utilize that as means to victory, but that is rather hard with the Giants. Considering they don't have any. Offensively, the Giants could be as deep as they come. Although he has been inconsistent in the past, Eli is letting the NFL know that big brother Peyton isn't the only Manning [...] Continue reading →
I think I speak for everyone when I say "Finally!" (well, maybe not Steelers and Titans fans) but the NFL season is finally upon us. On sunday, the Chiefs will open the 2009 season with quite the test, as they travel to Baltimore to face off against the Ravens. First and foremost, this will not be an easy game for the Chiefs. The Ravens will be returning all but 2 of their startings from last year, from both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.  Not only that, but they were able to add some quality players with the addition of Matt Birk at center, and drafting offensive tackle Michael Oher, and linebacker Paul Kruger. Let's not forget, this is the same Ravens who were just one game shy of the Super Bowl last year, when they lost the AFC championship game to the eventual Super [...] Continue reading →
Two up, two in the win column for the Seattle Seahawks new head coach Jim Mora Jr. Entering week three of the preseason the Seahawks come into Kansas City 2-0. Picking up wins against the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos. In both of those games the Seahawks scored 20+ points, something the Seahawks did only seven times last season. The Seahawks (2-0) are going up a [...] Continue reading →
Generally, my free agent assessments come later in the spring after I’ve had a chance to break down the film (my film study starts next week). But the buzz is loudest right now. So, that said, here are some initial impressions on the NFL’s big offseason moves thus far. Albert Haynesworth – Washington Redskins [...] Continue reading →
There isn’t a more utilitarian gesture than the middle finger. If you’re a curmudgeon, the middle finger is your answer to every question you don’t like. Nobody illustrates this better than Bill Belichick. For as long as he’s been a head coach in the NFL, Belichick has been raising his middle finger to every outsider who dare tries to gaze into [...] Continue reading →

Sunday will bring the unthinkable. Brett Favre will take the field in front of a raucous home crowd wearing green and…white. Tom Brady won’t take the field at all. This is how CBS will market the game. And this is why we’ll watch. Are we sure that death and taxes are certain? The last time Matt Cassel started a football game, Brett Favre was failing to win the MVP award for the first time in four years (though he was still pretty good). On Sunday, America will start to speculate about a most unexpected shift in power in the [...] Continue reading →
