The Saints WON! What a game!!! That first quarter was scary if you were a Saints fan and even going into half time with the score 6-10. But the Saints have been down before and came to win 31-17. One of the most impressive numbers is the fact that the Saints' defense held the Colts' offense to 17 points. The tenacious Jets defense could not even do that, and what is really impressive is that the Saints had a similar game to the one they played against the Vikings in the NFC Championship game. Here are some of the statistics: Total Yards: Colts: 432 Saints: 332 3rd Downs: Colts: 6 out of 13 Saints: 3 out of 9 Rushing: Attempts/Yards/Average Colts: 19/99/5.2     Saints: 18/51/2.8 Passing: Attempts/ Yards/Average Colts: 31-45/333/7.4   Saints: [...] Continue reading →
As a Colts fan, this game really disappointed me. But hey, the New Orleans Saints wanted it more. They needed this. After all New Orleans has gone through for the past few years with Hurricane Katrina and all that. Along with that, the Saints were never a good football team. The NFC Championship was the farthest they’ve ever gone before the season started. And they only made the NFC Championship once in their life. The Saints were undervalued. With losing to teams like the Buccaneers with their starters, the Saints were not favorites entering the playoffs. They proved everyone wrong. And then, the heroics of Tracy Porter came in the NFC Championship game. After that pick, it was over. It happened last night in the Super Bowl, against a high-powered Colts’ team. The first quarter [...] Continue reading →
45-14 Saints WIN!!! If you were a casual fan watching the game you would have been sorely disappointed in the game that took place at the Super Dome last weekend because of the lop-sided finished. But, if you were a a Saints fan the game was better than a warm beignet from Cafe Du Monde. After the Cardinals first offensive position (one run for 70 yards into the end zone) the Saints were in complete control. It was a whole team effort. Their defense did exactly what it has done all season long: hold the opposing offense a couple of times, play opportunistic defense, make big plays, and cease their opportunities. The offense was led by-their seemingly perennial MVP candidate-quarterback Drew Brees who had another great day at the office.  Brees was diffently prepared for the [...] Continue reading →

What a great overall performance by the Saints! The Saints went out to Tampa and CRUSHED the Bucs 34-7 including  not allowing a point after the 7 minute mark. The Saints had a great game plan, so first and foremost great job by the coaching staff to have prepared well for their divisional game against the Bucs. Without a solid game plan, it would be like not having a solid foundation on a house or building structure you need that in order to build the actual house. Let me dive right in to the Saints who really shined during last week's game. First off is the Offensive Line for the Saints, they really stepped up this past week. Allowing ZERO sacks for their quarterback Drew Brees. Brees had a very efficient day not throwing a pick and not being sacked means he had time to make [...] Continue reading →
This is getting crazy.  The New England Patriots will play their seventh undefeated opponent of the season when they visit the 10-0 New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.  The Patriots started the season playing the 0-0 Buffalo Bills, 1-0 New York Jets, 2-0 Atlanta Falcons, 3-0 Baltimore Ravens, and 4-0 Denver Broncos.  Of course, they played the 8-0 Indianapolis Colts in Week 10 on Sunday Night Football.  The 1SKILLZ Gameplan will be released later in the week, but for now I wanted to focus on comparing the Saints' #1 scoring offense this season with that of the 2007 New England Patriots.  That Patriots team scored an NFL record 589 points while going 16-0 in the regular season before losing Super Bowl XLII to the New York Giants 17-14. This year's Saints are averaging 36.9 [...] Continue reading →
....ummm...a win is a win...that is about it. Lets start with who stood out in week 10. Running back Reggie Bush had his best game this season, which is great because the way other running backs Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell played, it was imperative Bush stepped up and made plays for the Saints offense. Bush only carried the ball six times but amounted 83 yards and scored once. He also had 2 catches for 15 yards and another score, finishing the day with two touchdowns as well as two punt returns for 5 yards. In total Reggie touched the ball 10 times in the game and got 103 total yards - just slightly over 10 yards per touch. Great numbers,  as the games keep coming it will be crucial to keep exploring ways to utilize Bush's talents on the grid iron. As he showed against the Rams this [...] Continue reading →
After a rough 1st quarter giving up 14 points the Saints defense stepped up only allowing 6 points the remainder of the game, and played well enough to get their offense on the field to score enough to overcome the Carolina Panthers who were clawing as much as possible to get back to 4-4 on the year. This was a quality win...not a trap game like I heard some analysis say it was or would be. The Panthers need a new quarterback no question about it - that being said, after starting out 0-3 they had gone 3-1 leading up to their game against the Saints. They have talent on that team...you do not go12-4 - a year ago - without talent, good game plan(s), and solid structure. Well the important thing is the Saints walked away with another win improving their record to 8-0...lets get into [...] Continue reading →
What a game - the Falcons almost...ALMOST....almost threatened the Saints undefeated season thus far (knock on wood) with their last minute efforts...seriously, the last minute of the game seemed to take FOREVER with the Falcons trying their best to claw at the Saints and sneak out of the Big Easy with a win. Luckily the Saints held it together long enough for the clock to read 0:00 which I was very relieved to see - that was a huge win for the Saints, because if they had lost the game the Falcons would only be a game out of first place in the NFC South (Saints would have been 6-1 and the Falcons would have been breathing down their necks with a record of 5-2)...now the Saints are 7-0 and the Falcons are 4-3...probably the best 4-3 team in the league, though their loses come from [...] Continue reading →
Down 21 points...and the Saints march back and find a way to win! I think we will have some new Stars this week as well as see some names that have been weekly names to be awarded star omitted from this this week's list. For starters quarterback Drew Brees was a true gamer - his tenacity to go for it on 4th&1 - was pure brilliant, gutsy...and just what you want from your quarterback and leader! While he was brilliant in some aspects, in order to be a true championship caliber team - Brees and the Saints need to learn how to demolish weaker teams like the Dolphins so that they are able to withstand the test of the cream of the crop that the NFL has to offer (included but not limited to: Colts, Patriots, Steelers). Brees was two yards away from another 300 yard performance which [...] Continue reading →
