Anyone who has followed the Chargers over the last few years has been scratching their heads wondering what happened to the good old days. While the Chargers have made playoff appearances year after year, the team has continued to change, sometimes in unsettling ways. One of these unsettling changes happens to be what happened to the running game. There was a time when the NFL feared the Chargers' running game. When the Chargers drafted LaDainian Tomlinson in 2001, things changed, and it was scary for everyone else.
