Lofa Tatupu

In my second installment of my 2010 NFL Mock Draft I received some comments from outspoken Redskins and Lions fans discussing their opinion on my selections of a quarterback and offensive tackle respectively. Well now that the Senior Bowl has come and gone that has only a very slight effect on the third edition of my mock draft. So with that being said here is the third edition of my 2010 NFL Mock Draft. Click here for my first and [...] Continue reading →
With only four teams in remaining in the playoffs it means one of two things. One, Brett Favre is this much closer to a Super Bowl, but at the same time that much closer to another off season of "am I retired? I don't even know what that word means". Two, it means that free agency is inching closer and closer which starts the best time of the year. Speculation time. However with the NFL's collective bargaining agreement still i limbo not to many free agents know their status, in terms of restricted or unrestricted free agents. One of those lucky free agents to be, Green Bay Packers OLB/DE Aaron Kampman is most likely going to [...] Continue reading →
With Pete Carroll's signature on the dotted line on his new five year, $35 million dollar contract that will make him the eight head coach in Seahawks history, as well as the teams executive vice president of football operations. When Pete Carroll arrived at the VMAC today in Renton to meet the Seattle and national media for the first time as head coach and executive vice president of the Seahawks you could tell right from the first words Carroll said "I'm fired up" that the Seahawks, Paul Allen and Tod Leiweke made the [...] Continue reading →
The wait is over;  the Seattle Seahawks and former USC head coach Pete Carroll have come to an agreement to make Carroll the next Seahawks head coach, this according to the LA Times. Since the Seahawks fired former head coach Jim Mora Jr,  the team has been in direct contact with the Trojans head coach. When the news broke around 10 A.M Friday morning the quick names that came out were Vikings defensive coordinator Lesley Frazier (who would fill the NFL's Rooney Rule) and other notable suitors. Then ESPN's [...] Continue reading →
If you could look into an eight ball and ask it "Will Matt Hasselbeck be done after this season?" What do you think it would say? Well some fans and analyst believe that he still has 2-3 years left in him and that all Seattle needs to do is get him a great offensive line to protect him. Others will say that this should be his final year, not only in Seattle but in the NFL and that he should retire. In the end, the Seahawks 2009 season should be and will be his final year in the NFL and with the Seattle Seahawks. Now there are many reason behind all this. The Seahawks are currently looking around the league to find their long term GM after Tim Ruskell resigned on December 2nd, with only three months left on his five year contract. Usually when their is new outside GM coming into [...] Continue reading →
Since 2000 the Seahawks have had three general managers. Former head coach/GM Mike Holmgren (1999-2002), Bob Ferguson (2002-2005) and Tim Ruskell (2005-present). All three where respectable GM's. Holmgren built the foundation for the super bowl team of 2005 and was responsible for the Seahawks best decade in team history as both coach and GM. [...] Continue reading →
SEATTLE, WASH- As if losing 27-3 was not bad enough for the Seattle Seahawks, it got worse. Seahawks middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu is officially done for the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle against the Arizona Cardinals. Tatupu has missed one full game up to this season and parts of other games against Chicago and San Francisco. [...] Continue reading →
In 2010 the NFL pro bowl will be played in Miami Florida, instead of Hawaii. Now last season the Seahawks had one loan pro bowl on their roster. That player, Julian Peterson, is now in Detroit. Usual Seahawks like Walter Jones, Lofa Tatupu, Patrick Kerney, Matt Hasselbeck etc. Non of them played the entire season and none of them made the pro bowl. In my last article I talked about three Seahawks who are key to the success of the offense. Now I have selected three players on defense who have a great shot at the Pro bowl and are key to the success on defense. 1) The entire LB corps (Leroy Hill, Lofa Tatupu and Aaron Curry) Examination: The most expensive part of the Seahawks defense, and the second most expensive position on the entire roster next to WR. [...] Continue reading →
The Seahawks on paper have one of if not the best trio of linebackers in the NFL with Leroy Hill, Lofa Tatupu and rookie Aaron Curry. Tatupu is the most proven, followed by Hill and rounding out the three is rookie LB Aaron Curry who was the best complete player in the 2009 NFL draft. So lets get started Strong side LB: Aaron Curry, Backup: Will Herring Examination: Aaron Curry, who was a strong side linebacker in college at Wake Forest will also be a strong side linebacker for the Seahawks. Curry's stats at Wake Forest are as follows. 320 total tackles, five forced fumbles, six interceptions and nine total sacks in four seasons at Wake Forest. I see Curry having the same rookie season as Patrick Willis did in San Fransisco. Willis had 135 solo tackles and 174 total [...] Continue reading →
I wrote an article regarding three Seahawks who need to have a big year on the offensive side of the football. Now I'm doing the same on the defensive side of the ball. So lets get started. 1) All three starting LB's (Aaron Curry, Lofa Tatupu and Leroy Hill)- The Seahawks front office has invested a lot into there top trio of linebackers. Now they are looking for them to lead this Seahawks defense. Tatupu, who last year signed a new six year 42 million dollar deal, had a extremely off season. In his first four seasons in the NFL Tatupu made the pro bow and recorded over 100 tackles each year. This season Tatupu failed to make the pro bowl and failed to record 100 tackles. The Seahawks will be looking for a huge year from Tatupu, to show that he deserved his huge [...] Continue reading →
