The Cleveland Browns and Josh Cribbs are getting closer to a new deal that will satisfy both parties. The Browns have said Cribbs role on offense will be increased. Maybe to justify the extra money they will be paying for his services. In today's era of me first players who only care about their stats, Josh Cribbs is a total team player. If any player deserves a raise, he does. As for his role, he'll do whatever it takes to help the team.
I have called for Cribbs to get the ball more ever since he joined the Browns. On a team that has struggled mightily on offense, it's hard to figure out why their most explosive player doesn't get the ball more. A few carries from the Wildcat isn't enough.
At wide receiver, Cribbs was learning a new position while Cleveland was struggling to find [...]

This is the time of year when all loyal Browns fans are gearing up for free agency and checking out every mock draft they can find. Since Cleveland's season has once again has come to an end with no playoff appearance, we Browns fans can only hope for a better "next year".
The offense in Cleveland will probably be getting a lot of attention this off season. Quarterback, wide receiver, right tackle and tight end are positions the Browns will be looking to upgrade. Defensively, cornerback and safety are two huge needs. With Mike Holmgren being an offensive guru, he will probably be drafting heavily on that side of the ball. I have a solution.
Eric Mangini has hinted in the past at trying Josh Cribbs at safety. I liked the idea then and I still do. Hey if Mike Furrey can do it, I'm [...]

Every NFL team has its core players. Players a team can build around, they are the teams foundation. The more core players a team has, the better the foundation.
Looking at the Cleveland Browns roster, they are still a few key players away from being a playoff team team. They need to find a franchise quarterback first, along with a safety, cornerback, right tackle and possibly a number one wide receiver and an inside linebacker. A big back to compliment Jerome Harrison is more of a luxury than a real need. Josh Cribbs should be able to step into a bigger role on offense next year with more carries.
Who are the players Mike Holmgren will build around starting with free agency and then the draft? First you have to start with left tackle Joe Thomas. He's a yearly pro bowl player yet to [...]

Mike Holmgren has made his first major decision since becoming the President of the Cleveland Browns. His decision to keep Eric Mangini and his staff for the 2010 season was a smart move in my opinion. Constant turnover is never a good thing and the Browns have made huge strides since the beginning of the 2009 season.
Now that he doesn't have to spend time hiring a new coach and coaching staff, Holmgren can now focus on other team needs.
General Manager- The rumor is Tom Heckert, the Eagles G.M., will be moving to the Browns in the same capacity. Also, Holmgren has interviewed Will Lewis, Seattle's director of Pro Personnel for the G.M.job as well. It looks like a chain of command is being established in Cleveland, something that hasn't been present for a long [...]

Mike Holmgren needs to give Josh Cribbs the contract he deserves. It's not time for mind games. It's not the time for insulting the best Browns player in many years. Don't open wounds that won't heal. It's time to reward the all time kickoff returner in NFL history. Cribbs holds the record with eight career touchdowns on kickoff returns.
I've been a fan of both the Cleveland Browns and the NFL for almost 50 years and I've never seen anyone play as hard and as selfless as Josh Cribbs. He is the face of the Browns. A two time Pro Bowler who has done anything and everything the Browns have asked of him. He plays wide receiver, quarterback, running back, returns punts and kickoffs and covers punts and kickoffs. Plus he's only 26. Cribbs is in his prime. He is everything you want in a [...]

The Cleveland Browns finished the season at 5-11 and on a four game winning streak, beating the Jaguars. Using a bruising running game for the fourth straight game, the Browns rushed 49 times for 214 yards. Jerome Harrison led the Browns with 127 yards on 31 carries and scored on a six yard run. Josh Cribbs gained 47 yards and scored on a 14 yard run. Phil Dawson kicked three field goals for the Browns.
Derek Anderson threw just 11 passes, completing seven for 86 yards. With a wind chill of minus one degrees, it was a good thing Cleveland had a running game. In the Browns four game winning streak, it seemed like Eric Mangini was not about to let either Quinn or Anderson lose the game.
Jacksonville scored two fourth quarter touchdowns on passes from David Garrard to Zach Miller, [...]

With another disappointing Cleveland Browns season nearing an end, here are some things I'd like for 2010.
Cribbs Contract- No player plays harder or means more to the Browns than Josh Cribbs. Give him what he deserves.
Offensive coordinator - Eric Mangini has brought some good changes to the Browns but his Achilles heel is his offense. He needs plenty of help in this area. If Mangini keeps his job, it will be with a new OC.
Safety- The Browns need help at safety. They need to find their next Eric Turner or Don Rogers or Felix Wright or Thom Darden. This area desperately needs upgraded.
Quarterback- The Browns have been searching for a franchise quarterback since Bernie Kosar was let go by [...]

When the 3-11 Cleveland Browns host the 5-9 Oakland Raiders this week, they will do it without a valuable piece of their offense, their quarterback. While he hasn't put the team on his shoulders, Brady Quinn has done a nice job running the offense. In other word, he's been managing the games.
With Quinn being placed on IR for the second straight season, the Browns will be lining up with Derek Anderson at quarterback this Sunday. Quinn loses out on a golden opportunity to impress Mike Holmgren as his play so far may not be enough. While he has shown improvement since the bye week, inconsistency still plagues the third year QB.
Eric Mangini has said Anderson will now assume the starting job at QB. If I'm Mangini and I need to win these last two games, my plan is simple. Run [...]

Josh Cribbs returned two kickoffs of 100 and 103 yards for touchdowns to give him eight for his career. Cribbs broke the NFL record of seven touchdowns on kickoff returns. Not to be out done, Jerome Harrison rushed for 286 yards on 34 carries and scored three touchdowns. His 286 rushing yards broke the Browns record of 237 set by Jim Brown. Only Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Lewis have rushed for more yards in a single game in NFL history. In the end, Kansas City couldn't overcome Cleveland's dynamic duo, losing 41-34 to the Browns.
While Cleveland had trouble containing Matt Cassel, who passed for 331 yards and Jamaal Charles, who rushed for 154 yards, they managed to hold on for the win. Offensively Cleveland rushed for 351 yards but Brady Quinn managed just 66 through the air with two [...]

With the 2009 regular season quickly winding down, the Cleveland Browns probably wish it was just starting. Coming off a 13-7 win over their hated rival, the Browns snapped a 12 game losing streak to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the game, Cleveland recorded eight sacks and rushed for 171 yards. Those kind of numbers are usually put up by playoff bound teams, not someone with a 2-11 record. All they can do now is finish the season strong and make a good impression on their new "Czar", whoever he may be.
Eric Mangini probably wishes he had more games to state his case. The team has come a long way this year with plenty of pot holes and road blocks along the way. Finally it looks like Brady Quinn may be the QB Cleveland thought he would be. He might never be a Peyton Manning but he's [...]
