In last Monday's epic showdown the Saints smothered the Patriots  38-17 at the Superdome. The Saints have long been a bad to mediocre franchise to say the least. This win legitimizes them as a team with an undefeated record on the line, as a franchise looking for prominence and glory, as a city looking for hope through their lovable sports team, as a group of young mean feeling as though they belong at the top of the NFL and should be considered with the NFL's cream of the crops. The Saints should the whole country that they belonged! There are a lot of memories from that game - one of them I will not soon forget....the Patriots' star quarterback, Tom Brady, and head coach, Bill Belichick standing-arms-crossed on the sidelines. It is not very often you see a NFL team take out their [...] Continue reading →
What a great overall performance by the Saints! The Saints went out to Tampa and CRUSHED the Bucs 34-7 including  not allowing a point after the 7 minute mark. The Saints had a great game plan, so first and foremost great job by the coaching staff to have prepared well for their divisional game against the Bucs. Without a solid game plan, it would be like not having a solid foundation on a house or building structure you need that in order to build the actual house. Let me dive right in to the Saints who really shined during last week's game. First off is the Offensive Line for the Saints, they really stepped up this past week. Allowing ZERO sacks for their quarterback Drew Brees. Brees had a very efficient day not throwing a pick and not being sacked means he had time to make [...] Continue reading →
....ummm...a win is a win...that is about it. Lets start with who stood out in week 10. Running back Reggie Bush had his best game this season, which is great because the way other running backs Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell played, it was imperative Bush stepped up and made plays for the Saints offense. Bush only carried the ball six times but amounted 83 yards and scored once. He also had 2 catches for 15 yards and another score, finishing the day with two touchdowns as well as two punt returns for 5 yards. In total Reggie touched the ball 10 times in the game and got 103 total yards - just slightly over 10 yards per touch. Great numbers,  as the games keep coming it will be crucial to keep exploring ways to utilize Bush's talents on the grid iron. As he showed against the Rams this [...] Continue reading →
After a rough 1st quarter giving up 14 points the Saints defense stepped up only allowing 6 points the remainder of the game, and played well enough to get their offense on the field to score enough to overcome the Carolina Panthers who were clawing as much as possible to get back to 4-4 on the year. This was a quality win...not a trap game like I heard some analysis say it was or would be. The Panthers need a new quarterback no question about it - that being said, after starting out 0-3 they had gone 3-1 leading up to their game against the Saints. They have talent on that team...you do not go12-4 - a year ago - without talent, good game plan(s), and solid structure. Well the important thing is the Saints walked away with another win improving their record to 8-0...lets get into [...] Continue reading →
This is a tremendous match up this week. Honestly, if the season ended last week, I have a firm belief that people would get behind both teams as contenders in the playoffs...and although it is only the fourth week of the season, the game taking place between these two teams is important for both clubs. The Jets need to roll into the Big Easy and prove they got the bite to match up the Bark of Bart Scott and the rest of the Jets' tenacious defense. This will be Sanchez' first NFL game in a dome - it will be important for him to show composure when he hear the roar of the crowd inside of the dome. It is important for New Orleans to show that their defense can shut down Sanchez and the Jets' offense. Just as it is important that the Saints' offense is able to act like kryptonite to [...] Continue reading →
WOW...the Saints showed up last Sunday to defeat the Eagles 48-24 in Philadelphia. The whole team along with the coaches did a great job game planning and the players a superb demonstration of executing it out on the McNabb-less Eagles. Among the Saints were the Stars that shined bright last Sunday... ...but before I showcase this weeks Star Studded Saints here is a recap: Week 1 Star Studded Saints: O-Line (2) OL Jermon Bushrod (got one from the O-Line as well) RB Mike Bell MLB Jonathon Vilma SS Darren Sharper QB Drew Brees Now for the Week 2 Stars: WR Marques Colston - he caught eight balls for almost a hundred yards (98 to be exact) and counted for two touchdowns. He did with a widely talked about Eagles secondary consisting of pro bowl caliber talent across the [...] Continue reading →
Week 1...where to begin. Lets start with the score 45 - 27 Win over the Detroit Lions. The most important factor is that word....WIN. The first Star Studded Saint is a group...the Offensive Line. The gave up NO sacks, helped give Brees enough time to pick apart the defense, allowing backup running back Mike Bell to look like a starter, and did all this without one of their starter Jammal Brown. Another additional Star will be awarded to back up Offensive Lineman Jermon Bushrod - who filled the void...and I do mean VOID...of Jammal Brown. Running back Mike Bell, as much as the O-Line made holes, it was Bell who was made the plays to move the chains and take pressure off of Brees, rushing 28 times for over a 140 yards. Though I will point out that he fumbled the ball once (and [...] Continue reading →
