Now that the NFL’s final four has been set, an array of interesting storylines emerge. Each team has its own story, own reason for making the super bowl interesting. Here’s a look at the stories going on beyond the facts and figures.
Indianapolis
Holding the top record in the NFL at 14-2. Indianapolis has probably the most pressure of any team in this round. The Colts have (by far) the most recent super bowl victory or even just appearance of any of the four teams involved. They have an MVP quarterback and a superior record.
So why the concern and pressure? First of all, they shook some, but not all of the concern regarding the team’s concept of benching starters to prevent injury and rest them up. They came out strong and soundly defeated the [...]

When the Chargers went to face the Jets, they were a hot team looking to advance to face an opponent they had historically fared quite well against. Something happened in between the start of the playoffs and that date with Indianapolis however. The Jets.
Vincent Jackson, expected to be shut down by Darrell Revis had seven catches for 111 yards. Phillip Rivers put up nearly 300 yards. Mark Sanchez was held to being perfectly average, with just 100 yards on 12 of 23 passing with a TD and a pick. Thomas Jones was even stuff for less than three yards a carry and the attacking Jets defense only managed two sacks.
On paper most of what the Chargers wanted to happen would have seemed to. But in a game of inches, the team was buried on three plays.
The first goes to Nate [...]

The second round of the NFL playoffs have now been decided. In the AFC midseason monster Cincinnati and perennial powerhouse New England were both roughed up at home by their wildcard opponents. Coming out of the fifth seed, the victorious New York Jets are now the team San Diego will face in the divisional round.
New York topped the Bengals 24-14 in Cincinnati to advance to the divisional round of a playoffs they nearly missed. The Jets slipped to 4-6 by week 11, suffering a 1-6 skid after looking strong in by opening the year with a three game winning streak that included a statement match against division rival New England.
The Jets once more caught fire to closed the year with five wins in six games. The run included a match against Indianapolis where the Colts lead the [...]

The Bills traveled north of the border this past Thursday evening to take on their in-state neighbors the Jets. Coming into this game the Bills had high expectations of getting a two game win streak going after a great win against the Dolphins the previous Sunday. Unfortunately, this would turn out to not be the case.
This game was probably the WORST all-around game I have seen the Bills play all season. Of course, against the Dolphins the previous week, I thought that was the BEST all-around game the Bills had played all year. Irony, is it not?
This game would also be the worst game Ryan Fitzpatrick would play as a starter. Fitzpatrick finished the game 9-of-23 for 98 yards, no touchdowns, one interception and two fumbles (one was thankfully recovered). Being that the QB was having [...]

Well, I sure hope you didn't watch this game especially if you are a Bills fan? If you did watch it, like me, you wasted three hours of your life that you can never get back. If you did not [...]

It's two weeks into the 2009 regular season in the NFL and wouldn’t you know it Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is down with another injury.
Hasselbeck left mid way through the second quarter with what is now reported as a fractured rib which was caused by a hit made by 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis as Hasselbeck was stretching out towards the goal line.

Bill Parcells captained teams seldom provide much entertainment during the off season. Players know that their job is always on the line, so they tend not to get in trouble. If they do slip up you can count on their best clam imitation, because they won't be saying a word about it (see Will Allen last year, or Randy Starks this year). All I can say then is thank God for Channing Crowder!
He has always been a character (he was famous for wrestling boars and alligators up in The Swamp, as you can see here.) This off season has been no exception. With Rex Ryan upholding the 'family tradition' of not being able to stop talking- Crowder first took him to task with this [...]

In recent years, the Patriots have had the good fortune of playing in the AFC East, one of the least competitive divisions in football.
But something changed last season.
The Miami Dolphins turned their abysmal 2007 season into an 11-5 2008 campaign that crowned them AFC East Champions for the first time since 2000.
The New York Jets made the biggest splash in the 2008 offseason by signing Quarterback Brett Favre, who led them to an 8-3 start, only to see them wither down the stretch, missing out on a playoff spot in Week 17.
The Buffalo Bills shocked most people by starting the season 5-1 before predictably [...]

Baltimore Ravens 24, Washington Redskins 10
For the record, I’m ready to jump on the Ravens bandwagon now. I have been skeptical of this team all season and now find myself thoroughly embarrassed to be flip-flopping so blatantly. What sold me is a.) this defense b.) Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh (they’re for real) and c.) the running game.
What’s remarkable about the running [...]
