Ever since their super bowl upset in 1969, what ever could go wrong did, for the Jets. Everything such as flukes, collapses, disappointments, you name it.
Events such as the 1998 AFC Championship, with the Jets beating the Broncos 10-7 in the second half, a swirling gust of wind came on the Broncos kickoff, knocking the ball off it's patch and the Broncos recovered. This lead to a Broncos field goal tying the game and lead to a 13 unanswered points by the Broncos. The Jets lost 23-10.
Or who could forget the 2004 divisional championship against the Steelers, with the AFC Championship within sight, The Jets kicker, Doug Brien, missed two routine field goals at the end of the game which cost the Jets a heartbreaking loss in overtime.
Even Joe Namath, the hero of the Superbowl win, [...]

Apparently, Mark Sanchez did not get the memo that rookies are usually not good in the playoffs. He became the fourth starting rookie quarterback since 1950 to win a playoff game and helped lead the Jets to their first playoff victory since 2004.
Mark Sanchez looked like a veteran, he was putting balls right on target, and made very good decisions and completed the game with a 139.4 passer rating.
I even think he earned his nickname, the "Sanchize", back with his performance.
Now let's look at the other rookie, Shonn Greene is an absolute BEAST. He's quick, he's powerful and he always keeps his legs churning.
He had a great regular season, but this was his breakout performance rushing for 135 yards on 21 carries against the Bengals defense who ranked 7th in rushing yards [...]

Brad Smith has always been a key player for the Jets, but Sunday he established himself as a huge threat rushing for 92 yards on four carries and a touchdown.
The Bengals could not stop him whether he lined up at Quarterback or in the Wildcat, every time that ball went to Smith it seemed like the Bengals defense where caught off guard.
Smith is going to be a key player going into the Bengals rematch as he is a threat on the ground or in the air. It is basically pick your own poison with him and if you think the Bengals will have him figured out, you are wrong.
Smith's speed and vision helps him find the wholes and break open a huge gain whenever he gets the ball. But defenses also have to watch out for Shonn Greene, because whenever Smith does not see a hole, most of the time he [...]

When all hope seemed gone in the loss to the Falcons last week, the Jets regained control of their own destiny and are one game away from the playoffs.
Everything fell in favor for the Jets today, Jacksonville lost, the Phins lost, and the Ravens lost all by the time the Jets vs. Colts game kicked off. The Jets where able to seize the oppurtunity and beat the Colts 29-15.
The Jets did a good job sticking with the Colts when Peyton Manning was in, and where able to seize the game when Curtis Painter, Colts QB, went in and Manning went out. When Manning was warming the bench the Jets scored 19 points, the Colts scored 0.
The running game did a spectacular job with 200 yards between Thomas Jones and Shonne Greene. Thomas Jones also helped seal the deal with a touchdown with five [...]

The Jets climb out of .500 by blowing out the Bucs 26-3.
Here are some quick hits from the game.
1.Kellen Clemens did a decent job managing the game with no turnovers. He did nothing, on the other hand, to prove he was a legit starter with 12 for 23 and 111 yards. He kept throwing the ball to the ground for the receivers and barely was on target. I miss Sanchez!
2. Bart Scott can not let the emotions get the better of him. Ripping off a players helmet leaving the field on a 3rd down is incredibly stupid and it even lead to a Bucs field goal. Other then that, he had a pretty good game with six tackles and helped in shutting down the run game.
3. Incredible games are starting to become routine for Darrelle Revis. He had three pass deflections, three tackles and another seal the [...]

The Jets FINALLY snapped their collapse and revived playoff hopes with a win against the Panthers.
Mark Sanchez had a solid performance throwing 13 -17 for 154 yards and was able to manage the game. Their was a scary moment though when Mark Sanchez was holding his knee after an eight yard scramble. After a couple plays he came back in with a brace and the injury did not appear to be serious.
It was nice to see Sanchez bounce back though, especially after a dreadful game against the Pats last week.
The defense was lights out today with four interceptions, including a pick six from Darrelle Revis and two interceptions from Kerry Rhodes coming off the bench. They also held the Panthers third ranked run offense to only 65 yards.
Although Kerry Rhodes did have a good performance, [...]

Well Jet fans, the Jets playoff hopes are officially on life support after the Jets lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-22.The New York defense showed everyone that they can play well but that when it comes down to crunch time, they aren’t as good as they say. The defense was hanging on to a 22-21 lead with 4:00 left in the fourth quarter against a Jaguars offense that they haven’t let up a first down to all second half.
But they let up two third down conversions and not only let the Jaguars get to field goal position but move down to the one yard line.
Braylon “Butter Fingers” Edwards deserves a share in this loss after dropping a two point conversion which could have given the Jets a three point lead with 4:00 left in the game.
Another costly mistake [...]

The Jets are 4-4 and playoff hopes are dimming after a devastating loss to the Dolphins. Coming off the Bye week they will be facing the also, 4-4 Jaguars.
Although the records might be the same, the Jaguars only impressive win comes from the 5-4 Texans, who the Jets have already defeated. Other then that they have defeated the Titans, and barely sqeaked by both the Cheifs and the Rams only winning by three in both games.
But if the Jets want to keep their playoff hopes alive they must defeat the Jaguars. So here are the keys for the Jets to beat the Jags.
Mark Sanchez can't suck: This pretty much apply's to every game the Jets will play for the rest of the season. If the Jets want to win Mark needs to manage the game. It shouldn't be hard against a Jaguars defense whos in the [...]
