Jacksonville Jaguars

After looking at mock drafts, and listening to draft analysts, it is finally time to come out and say that Tim Tebow will not be selected either 10th or 11th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. I will go out and say this - the Jaguars only possibilities of drafting Tim Tebow includes: 1. Trading out of their spot to the end of the 1st round and gaining another draft pick.  Perhaps at pick 28-32, Tebow may be worth the shot and money. 2.  If Tebow falls to the third round.  The Jaguars do not possess a 2nd round draft pick in this year's draft (it was traded away last year to the Patriots to get the draft choice that selected CB Derek Cox). Aside from these two possibilities, Tim Tebow will not be selected in the early-mid 1st round. Coming off of a season where the [...] Continue reading →
Before I start writing, just know that this is a possible scenario heard on ESPN. With Pete Carroll leaving USC to coach the Seattle Seahawks, speculation is everywhere concerning the opening left behind. The name seemingly making the most sense at this point is Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio. Del Rio, who attended USC, is the hard-nosed head coach that USC may possibly be looking for. From rumors and analysts, it looks like USC is going to be looking for a coach with head coaching experience in the NFL or the NCAA at a big name program. Del Rio would give USC a credible, defensive-minded coach that could come in and continue where Carroll left off. The question in my mind is, where would this leave Jacksonville?  If Jack Del Rio left the Jaguars tomorrow, [...] Continue reading →
For all of the talk about the New England Patriots' struggles this season, they put together one of their most complete games of the season Sunday, defeating the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars 35-7 to clinch the AFC East division.  They will host a playoff game at Gillette Stadium in January, where they went a perfect 8-0 this season. Less than two years after completing 26 of 28 passes for 262 yards and three TDs against the Jaguars in the 2007 playoffs, Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 23 of 26 passes for 267 yards and 4 TDs!  There's just something about the Jaguars secondary that makes Brady want to throw more TDs than incompletions.  The Jaguars had no answer for WRs Wes Welker and Randy Moss, who accounted for 69% of Brady's yards.  Welker caught 13 passes for 138 yards; [...] Continue reading →
In the last games of December 2009, the 7-7 Jacksonville Jaguars will visit Foxborough, Massachusetts in a must-win situation against the 9-5 New England Patriots.  The Jaguars have lost three of their last four games, most recently to the Indianapolis Colts 35-31 on Thursday Night Football.  After losing two straight games, the Patriots have won two in a row against the Carolina Panthers and last week against the Buffalo Bills, 17-10.  The win over the Bills marked the Patriots' first road win in the continental United States (their 35-7 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was at Wembley Stadium in London).  This is the Patriots 2009 home finale, where they are undefeated (7-0). The last time the Jaguars and Patriots met was in the Divisional Round of the 2007 NFL playoffs.  At [...] Continue reading →
The Indianapolis Colts look to strive for 14-0 on Thursday Night. And man, what a great week for NFL Network, eh? They got two undefeated teams playing on their channel, exclusively. They got the 13-0 Indianapolis on Thursday Night, like I said, and then the Saints against Dallas on Saturday. But enough. It’s time to talk Colts. The Colts are going to probably rest a few players throughout the game, but I still think Indy can come out with a win. It really won’t be that hard, really. I mean, I just can’t see a 7-6 teams getting at a 13-0 team, other than the Chargers in 2005. But the Chargers always get us (maybe not this year, though!). But this is Jacksonville people! And then after that, Indy has New York, and Mark Sanchez always struggles. [...] Continue reading →
Wow- I don't think I've ever come so close to having a heart attack.  The amount of ways that we tried to give this game to Jacksonville was stunning.    Over and over again, when we had a chance to slam the door on them, we gave them hope- two fumbles in field goal range, and missed 38 yard field goal (the first missed FG inside the 40 for Dan Carpenter's career), and a bad interception thrown by Henne all contributed to make a game that should have been a double digit blow out into a 4 point squeaker. There are a couple of ways to look at this.  The pessimist will say that this is a sign that the Dolphins are pretenders.  Jacksonville is far from being a top NFL team, and we just could not put them away when we had everything on the line. The optimist will say that this is [...] Continue reading →
Yes, I say play IN game.  If the season were to end today, Jacksonville would be the last Wildcard team to make it in.  The Dolphins are two positions out right now, with Baltimore one spot ahead.  Winning the game would still require some help (we would need New England or Baltimore to lose), but it puts us in a MUCH better position.  Since we can't make other teams win or lose, we just need to focus on ourselves here. Jacksonville is tough team to figure out- as they seem to run very hot and cold.  They swept a tough Houston team, blasted the Titans, and hung tough with Indi- but they were steam rolled by a mediocre Seattle, got pounded by San Fransisco, and had close calls against the Bills, Rams, and Chiefs.  If the Jags are on their game though, they will be tough to [...] Continue reading →
Through thirteen weeks in a very exciting NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently sitting with the second wild-card birth in the playoffs.  The question now is, can they hold on? Coming off a very impressive win against Houston, the Jaguars face three tough teams in a row that will determine the fate of the Jaguars' season. It all starts this week in Jacksonville against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins come in a week after defeating the New England Patriots, and are also in the wild-card hunt at 6-6. A very meaningful game, this game is a do or die situation for Jacksonville.  The next two games after Miami are against the undefeated Indianapolis Colts and then the New England Patriots. With a win against Miami, the Jaguars would pull out their eighth win of [...] Continue reading →
The Colts had this game right from the start. It was just an easy game. Although the Titans were on a five-game winning-streak, and looking dangerous, the Colts were on a eleven-game winning-streak, and counting, as they move on to 12-0. Joseph Addai played well, scoring the team’s first touchdown, and having another one, along with 79 yards. Peyton Manning threw for 270 yards along with a touchdown. Vince Young played well, and was looking to for a win after playing his best game of his career just last week against the Arizona Cardinals. He passed for 241 yards with two touchdowns and one pick. The Titans had a lot of chances to win this game. They had wasted opportunities in the red zone, and the score should have been much tighter.  Nate Washington had a chance to put up a [...] Continue reading →
First time head coach Perry Fewell led his Buffalo Bills and new starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on to the field Sunday afternoon to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Putting up somewhat of an impressive fight, the Bills managed to almost win in Fewell's first game as interim head coach. Overall, I did see signs of improvement on the offensive side of the ball that I have not seen in the [...] Continue reading →
