Charles Haley. Man, what can I say about this guy.
When you think of success, in terms of football, one of the first images that should pop into anyone's mind is Charles Haley. No player had more success than he did.
To be on five Super Bowl teams and have five Super Bowl rings is an accomplishment that no one has been able to match, and I doubt if anyone else will really.
The addition of free agency and salary caps have prevented dynasties from surviving in the NFL. "The teams that do stay intact, like the Patriots, are unusual," to paraphrase my idol, Paul Zimmerman.
Therefore, it is almost [...]

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild-Card playoff round, the fans of Dallas have received great news from the city of Canton, Ohio.
Two of the pivotal figures of the Cowboys dynasty in the 1990s are on the finalist list for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Charles Haley, a defensive end who accumulated 100.5 sacks and was a constant threat to offensive lineman, along with Emmitt Smith, the all-time leading rusher in NFL history with 18,355 yards are one step closer to having busts in the Pro Football Hall of Fame located in Canton, Ohio.
Without these two men, Dallas would not have won a Super Bowl let alone three of them.
The finalists will be discussed further by the voting committee and the results will be announced on February 6th, [...]

The semi-finalist list for the Hall of Fame class of 2010 was announced, and I was puzzled at the inclusion of a few names, but one really stood out in particular.
The former commissioner, Paul Tagliabue, who was in charge of the NFL from 1989 to 2006 was a nominee.
Huh?
Paul Tagliabue did his job as a commissioner. Some could argue that his work at commissioner was not as effective or he was a questionable commissioner.
Regardless of those opinions, Tagliabue did do a lot of good for the NFL in many ways.
For example: In 1996, Jacksonville and Carolina were awarded expansion teams that we know as the Jaguars and [...]

No Super Bowl ring. Is that the only reason Don Coryell is not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Really? What a farce.
A Championship is nice, but it's just the cherry on top. Hall of Fame inductees should get in based on merit that expands beyond trophies. Consider the level of respect garnered from their peers in their day, and the level of lasting influence someone has had on the game. Failing to do so is like judging a draft prospect strictly on their measurables.
Don Coryell has influenced the NFL as much as any coach in the history of the game.
He is widely regarded as the architect of the modern passing game and the [...]

The Hall Of Fame awaits Cris Carter. Why Carter is not already enshrined in Canton is beyond me. Sometimes great players need a little patience and this seems to be case where Carter is concerned.
Cris Carter was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in round four of the 1987 Supplemental Draft. He signed with Minnesota in 1990 after being released by the Eagles. Carter spent 12 seasons with the Vikings before playing his final season with Miami.
In all, Carter played 16 seasons in the NFL, being named to the Pro Bowl team eight times and was also selected to the NFL All Decade Team of the 1990's.
Great hands and exceptional leaping ability were Chris Carter's trademarks. His career totals of 1101 receptions for 13,899 yards and 130 touchdowns rank among the elite in NFL history. [...]

The 2009 Season was a disappointing season for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans when it comes down to leaving the great Texas Stadium as winners, going to the Super Bowl, winning the Super Bowl, and being acknowledged for what we truly are.
The best of the best.
However, we as fans should not mourn this season but rejoice because one of our forgotten heroes will now be joining the best of the best where he belongs.
'Bullet' Bob Hayes is going to be inducted in the Professional Football Hall of Fame this upcoming August. The only man to have an Olympic Gold and a Super Bowl ring and commonly known as the fastest man on Earth.
And who [...]
