Mock drafts are silly guesses that mean absolutely nothing.
As college basketball fans watch their NCAA brackets crumble under huge upsets, it only goes to show that even the most well-informed predictions bow humbly to crushing reality.
Yet, eager for the NFL draft to begin I succumb to the meaningless speculations as most true fans do.
The intent is to be informed enough to get excited when management’s decisions coincide with my own desires, while embracing optimism when selections go contrary to my whims.
Fans will not execute the picks for Kansas City on April 22-24, but they have every right to their opinions.
With an increasing number of analysts predicting Sam Bradford to go number one overall it appears more likely that offensive tackle Russell Okung, safety Eric [...]

The Seahawks have officially released veteran safety Deon Grant the team announced this afternoon. Grant joined the Seahawks back in 2007 when he signed a six-year $31.8 million dollar contract which at the time made Grant the third highest paid safety in the NFL behind the Ravens Ed Reed and the Cowboys Roy Williams.
Grant was a part of that "home run hitting" free agent class that Seattle attempted to bring in which also included defensive end Patrick Kerney, guard Kris Deilman and tight end Daniel Graham. Graham and Deilman rejected offers to come to Seattle and instead chose Denver and San Diego respectively.
Deon Grant was scheduled to make [...]

This article is based off information I have heard from NFLFanHouse.com.
Since the NFL Combine began early last week, we are hearing more rumors and opinions regarding the number one pick.
Currently it is held by the St. Louis Rams, who finished 1-15 last season.
So far we have heard a few things; the general manager saying all bets are off, and the star player believing they should trade the selection if not sold on one player.
The debate right now is between defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma quarterback as to whom the St. Louis Rams will take. If you go off my opinion, I believe the Rams should take Suh to continue building a young defense that can be a force years down the line.
However, is [...]

Mock drafts are fun to read and speculate on but mean very little. With the knowledge of what a teams weaknesses are, an educated guess can be made but it's still a guess. In the Cleveland Browns case, even an educated guess is very hard to make.
With Mike Holmgren now running the show in Cleveland, quarterback has become a higher priority than it was a year ago with Eric Mangini in charge. Even with that knowledge, it's still hard to predict what the Browns will do with the seventh pick in the draft.
If we knew what Holmgren thinks of Brady Quinn it might make it a little easier. He has not made his feelings known about Quinn, a former first round pick just three years ago. If Holmgren sees something worth developing in Quinn, you can forget picking a QB in the first round. If he [...]

It seems like the Chiefs are still basking in the glow over the Overtime win two weeks ago against Pittsburgh. Maybe it's time someone remind them that they've had two games since. For the second straight week, the Chiefs took by 4 scores, with a 44-13 lost to Denver.
Here's what will be hard to understand about the last two weeks. The scoreboard honestly doesn't reflect on the teams play.
Although the pass defense didn't do well against Rivers, they did stop LT, by all means(minus the goal line situations) and the offense has been improving. Jamaal Charles is making better cuts, and seeing running lanes better than he was before, and in a shocking turn of events, the offensive line isn't doing all that bad.
The problem the Chiefs seem to be having is getting the first down. Last [...]

In a quite interesting move, the Chiefs didn't let 2005 pro bowl wide receiver Chris Chambers stay unemployed for long. After being put on waivers monday by the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs have decided to claim Chambers off waivers just 24 hours after his released.
Per profootballtalk (PFT) Chris Chambers has been claimed by the Chiefs. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/03/chiefs-claim-chris-chambers/
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, this isn't the same Chambers that was in Miami. Nagging injuries to his ankle have severely tarnished his career, taking him from a 70 catch 1000 yard [...]

As we head into Week 5, the Chiefs find themselves in a position no team would want to by this point. That being 0-4 on the season. Although the Chiefs are in the re-building phase, no one wants to see their team on the losing end each week, but with a schedule like there's, it was hard to think they would be anything but winless.
Hosting the Cowboys sunday could actually change all of that. Romo's main WR Roy Williams and originally starting RB Felix Jones are both OUT. Normal starting RB Marion Barber is also doubtful with more knee injury issues. Those three accumulate for four of the ten touchdowns on the year for the Cowboys.
While those following are out, that leaves QB Tony Romo two options. One being throw it to Witten, a lot. Witten may be a tight end, but he's also had [...]

Week three is now in the books and the Seahawks have slumped to 1-2. The Seahawks lost 25-19 to the Chicago Bears at Quest Field this past Sunday and it was clear where the holes are on this team.
Last week I had the holes at QB, RB, OL, DL, CB and S. I think it is clear to say that we can take off running back with Julius Jones only finishing two yards short of his second 100+ yard game in three games. His first came in week one with 117 yards on 19 carries.
