Donovan McNabb

With Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback recently being in the news for harassment as well as other possible charges involving an incident outside Atlanta, the Rooney family is not so high on Big Ben. This is his second off the field incident (he's currently fighting a civil suit in Nevada for sexual assault) and could be willing to part with the star quarterback. The Steelers have said they would be content with current backup Dennis Dixon as the team’s starting quarterback or could acquire one via the NFL draft, but Dixon would be the more immediate choice. So who would be interested in the 28-year old quarterback? The [...] Continue reading →
While waiting for weather to warm up here in Ohio, I couldn't help thinking about how to fix the Cleveland Browns quarterback position. After looking at the top quarterbacks in the upcoming NFL draft, I had another thought. Trade. With Tom Heckert now the Browns new GM, could Donovan McNabb be coming as well? It may not be that far fetched. Heckert was hired by the Browns after spending the last eight seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and knows McNabb well. It is thought that Andy Reid may be willing to trade either Kevin Kolb or McNabb. With Kolb being younger and showing promise, he might be the choice to stay. McNabb is 33 but is still playing well. I can't help but imagine how Cleveland's offense would look with McNabb at QB. The Browns rushed for an average of  228 yards a [...] Continue reading →
Before Sunday's playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb knew he was on the hot seat. Unfortunately, the 34-14 loss increased the temperature of his seat to an uncomfortable level. While Eagles head coach Andy Reid announced McNabb will be his starting quarterback next season two days after the recent playoff loss to the Cowboys, Philadelphia fans seem to be unhappy with the decision. For some, Sunday's loss to Dallas was the final straw in the 11 seasons of disappointment during the McNabb era. Seven playoff appearances with a 10-8 record. Five NFC Championship appearances in eight seasons. [...] Continue reading →
First, I want to apologize for my leave of absence. I've no reasonable excuse to explain why I have not written except a combination of holidays, homework, laziness, and writer's block. Thankfully though, I have found my muse and I'm ready to write and see Dallas go to playoffs. It has been as tough a year as it has been magical. The tough part is losses to the Giants, the Broncos, the Packers, and the Chargers, but still to finish this season with back to back shutouts against division rivals is remarkable. The Redskins win was one that redeemed us for our horrid win of 7-6 last time. Even though Al [...] Continue reading →
Two weeks ago, the Philadelphia Eagles appeared to be a football team who struggled to balance out the play calling on offense--especially when it came to running the ball. After Sunday's 40-17 win over the New York Giants, the Eagles look like a completely different team and it may have something to do with the play calling. Eagles head coach Andy Reid has been criticized at [...] Continue reading →
As I was driving in my car late Sunday afternoon (stuck in traffic from my day trip back from Media, PA), I was listening to one of many Philadelphia Eagles Post-Game shows on one of the local radio stations. Most of the topic of discussion was regarding the Birds latest 33-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lincoln Financial Field. On paper, the Eagles had every reason to believe they would have little trouble getting by the now [...] Continue reading →
Any other year, a preseason game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars would not have a significant impact for the fans. However, last night's matchup may have been one of the most hyped-up preseason games fans have seen in years since Michael Vick was making his debut with the Eagles after spending 18 months in prison for his involvement with running a dogfighting operation. Vick's first game back since December 31, 2006 was the complete opposite of what most people expected--which may have been a great thing. There were protesters outside of the stadium before the game, but not nearly the amount everyone expected. There [...] Continue reading →
Tonight, the Philadelphia Eagles traveled to Indianapolis for a preseason matchup against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. After falling to the New England Patriots 27-25 last week, the Birds hope to bounce back in their second game of the preseason. For the first time, I thought it would be fun to run live updates during the game, marking key plays for the Eagles. Enjoy! First Quarter 15:00—A nice opening kick for David Akers as Akeem Jordan makes the tackle for the Eagles. The Colts will start at their own 19-yard line. 14:50—Peyton Manning throws a quick screen pass to Jacob Tamme for 13 yards. Not [...] Continue reading →
With training camp slowly approaching, expectations are higher than ever this season for players and fans of the Philadelphia Eagles after strong late-season performance last year . After a Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last season, a game in which quarterback Donovan McNabb was benched in the second half, the Eagles sat at 5-5-1 and would need to play perfect football the last five weeks of the season if there was any hope of making the playoffs. Against all odds, the Eagles went on to win four of their final five games and squeaked their way into the playoffs with help from other teams around the league such as the Raiders [...] Continue reading →
Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles clinched a playoff spot in one of the most bizarre ways we could have imagined. In the final week of the season, the Eagles received unlikely help from the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans just to be in contention for a wild card spot in the playoffs. After manhandling the Dallas Cowboys 44-6 at home, the Eagles found themselves heading to Minnesota to play the Vikings in the opening round of the playoffs. With back-to-back wins against the Vikings and New York Giants, the Eagles surprised the world by reaching their fifth NFC Conference Championship game in eight years as a sixth [...] Continue reading →
