Donovan McNabb Eagles

With the way the Washington Redskins have performed this season, one would think the Philadelphia Eagles would have no trouble leaving FedEx Field with a victory on Monday Night Football. After last week's loss to the Oakland Raiders, the Eagles realize they need to take this Redskins' team serious to avoid a second straight loss--especially with the success the Skins have against them the last two seasons. Monday night's matchup consists of two teams looking to avoid ending the week at the [...] Continue reading →
As we approach Week Seven of the 2009 season, the Philadelphia Eagles are still scratching their heads trying to figure out what exactly went wrong in their 13-9 loss to the Oakland Raiders last Sunday. The Eagles failed to take advantage of a Raiders' rushing defense ranked 26th in the NFL, rushing the ball just 14 times. On top of the few amount of rushing attempts, quarterback Donovan McNabb felt pressure all day as he was sacked six times and unable to help the offense find the end [...] Continue reading →
Any other year, a preseason game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars would not have a significant impact for the fans. However, last night's matchup may have been one of the most hyped-up preseason games fans have seen in years since Michael Vick was making his debut with the Eagles after spending 18 months in prison for his involvement with running a dogfighting operation. Vick's first game back since December 31, 2006 was the complete opposite of what most people expected--which may have been a great thing. There were protesters outside of the stadium before the game, but not nearly the amount everyone expected. There [...] Continue reading →
With training camp slowly approaching, expectations are higher than ever this season for players and fans of the Philadelphia Eagles after strong late-season performance last year . After a Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last season, a game in which quarterback Donovan McNabb was benched in the second half, the Eagles sat at 5-5-1 and would need to play perfect football the last five weeks of the season if there was any hope of making the playoffs. Against all odds, the Eagles went on to win four of their final five games and squeaked their way into the playoffs with help from other teams around the league such as the Raiders [...] Continue reading →
Throughout his career, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has faced his fair share of criticism. When the Eagles selected him with the No. 2 pick overall in 1999, he was booed by fans who wanted Ricky Williams instead. His controversy with Rush Limbaugh shed light on the issue of African-American quarterbacks in the league. Even this past November, he dealt with criticism after head coach Andy Reid benched him in the second half during a 36-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. If he fails to win a Super Bowl by the time he decides to call it quits, McNabb's legacy in Philadelphia may be remembered for the five NFC Championship game appearances in eight years without a championship. However, he should be considered for the group of wide receivers he has played with over his [...] Continue reading →
By: Dan Parzych When looking back at some of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, most of them have had that star receiver to throw to that made their lives a little bit easier. Steve Young had Jerry Rice. Peyton Manning had Marvin Harrison. Even Troy Aikman had Michael Irvin to help the Cowboys win three straight Super Bowls in the 90's. For most of his career, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has played without that star wide receiver. Him and Terrell Owens had the potential to be one of the best dynamic duos in NFL history after they connected for 20 touchdowns in 21 games from 2004-2005. Unfortunately, the Eagles released Owens halfway through the 2005 season after he became too much of a headache for the Joe Banner and the rest of the franchise to [...] Continue reading →
