David Garrard

For all of the talk about the New England Patriots' struggles this season, they put together one of their most complete games of the season Sunday, defeating the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars 35-7 to clinch the AFC East division.  They will host a playoff game at Gillette Stadium in January, where they went a perfect 8-0 this season. Less than two years after completing 26 of 28 passes for 262 yards and three TDs against the Jaguars in the 2007 playoffs, Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 23 of 26 passes for 267 yards and 4 TDs!  There's just something about the Jaguars secondary that makes Brady want to throw more TDs than incompletions.  The Jaguars had no answer for WRs Wes Welker and Randy Moss, who accounted for 69% of Brady's yards.  Welker caught 13 passes for 138 yards; [...] Continue reading →
Through thirteen weeks in a very exciting NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently sitting with the second wild-card birth in the playoffs.  The question now is, can they hold on? Coming off a very impressive win against Houston, the Jaguars face three tough teams in a row that will determine the fate of the Jaguars' season. It all starts this week in Jacksonville against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins come in a week after defeating the New England Patriots, and are also in the wild-card hunt at 6-6. A very meaningful game, this game is a do or die situation for Jacksonville.  The next two games after Miami are against the undefeated Indianapolis Colts and then the New England Patriots. With a win against Miami, the Jaguars would pull out their eighth win of [...] Continue reading →
The Jaguars were able to pull off a last-minute victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Buffalo Bills 18-15. After playing a below average game offensively, David Garrard was able to lead the team on a 68-yard scoring drive.  The Jags added on the two point coversion on a Garrard run, to put them up 18-15 with about one minute remaining. An interception by Anthony Smith ended the game and put the Jags two games above .500, and gave them a three game winning streak. David Garrard didn't play all that well, but came alive when it mattered most. Maurice Jones-Drew was held to only 66 yards on 25 carries but did rush in one touchdown to bring his season total to thirteen. Mike Sims-Walker continued his great play by catching eight passes for 91 yards and the game-winning [...] Continue reading →
Through nine games thus far, the Jaguars have been able to pull off a 5-4 record that puts them third in the AFC South.  More importantly, however, is that they are heading into a stretch where they are facing teams such as Buffalo, San Francisco, Miami, and Cleveland. Although all these teams are tough competitors, if Jacksonville can pull out four wins in these games, that would put them with nine wins this season. The other three games remaining on their schedule include New England, Indianapolis, and Houston. The possibility of either beating Houston again, or pulling off an upset against Indianapolis or New England means that the Jaguars could just possibly see double-digit wins this season. Although the Jaguars do have plenty of the season left to play, the odds are [...] Continue reading →
After a struggling Jaguars team started 0-2, the Jaguars have come back to go into their bye week at an even 3-3 record. With more positive news rather than negative to report going into the bye week, the Jaguars have plenty to work on in order to give this team a shot for what is looking to be a wild-card spot in the playoffs. After losing 41-0 to Seattle in week 5, the Jaguars were able to bounce back and narrowly beat a win-less St. Louis team in overtime. The lone superstar, Maurice Jones-Drew, is proving that the more carries he gets, the better chance this team has to winning the game. Carrying the ball 33 times against St. Louis and totalling three touchdowns, Maurice Jones-Drew is quickly becoming a top running back in the NFL. Jones-Drew had a few words for the [...] Continue reading →
In what was a very surprising game, the Jacksonville Jaguars played flawless football and defeated the Tennessee Titans 37-17. Led by a very impressive David Garrard, the Jaguars came out hot and didn't stop. Maurice Jones-Drew only had six carries totalling 14 yards and a touchdown, but was unneeded in the second half. Rashad Jennings got to see some playing time and ran very nicely gaining 53 yards on 9 carries. Other rookies including WR Mike Thomas and CB Derek Cox played wonderful, and helped the Jaguars blow past the Titans. Mike Sims-Walker exploded for the third straight week and had 91 yards and 2 TD's. With Sims-Walker becoming the number one wide out, Holt settling in nicely at the second spot and Mike Thomas playing great, this Jaguars receiving corps is [...] Continue reading →

After the first two games of the season, it's safe to say that this is looking like the rebuilding year that many said it would be for the Jaguars. Week one brought some solid play and hope after a tough loss to the Colts started the season. Last week was a different story as the Cardinals came out fast and put the Jags away in the first half. The Jaguars offense never clicked until it was too late in the fourth quarter. After the blocked field goal return for a touchdown by Antrelle Rolle, it seemed like the stadium emptied out and fans gave up on the team. Possibly the biggest headliner for the Jaguars this season will not even deal with their record, but the attendance and lack there of. I'll save that article for another time, but if the Jaguars want to have any [...] Continue reading →
In a defensive battle, the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning were able to pull out a narrow victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Many Jaguars fans may be happy with the outcome of this game.  After an off-season led by the word "rebuilding" many counted the Jaguars out before the game began. As the game went on, it was apparent that this is one tough, rebuilt team. With four rookies in the starting lineup, Derek Cox highlighted the group by intercepting Peyton Manning in the red zone in what looked to be a sure Colts score. Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton both played well, however, Monroe struggled greatly at the end of the game. With the score 14-12, Garrard had a chance to lead the team down the field for a possible game-winning field [...] Continue reading →
The Indianapolis Colts have showed signs of hope and some major improvement after Sunday's 14-12 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts defense played strong in the victory. Peyton Manning had a solid performance, going 28-of-38 for 301 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception. Manning played strong and was showing [...] Continue reading →
