Just three and a half hours before the Chargers playoff game against the New York Jets, wide receiver Vincent Jackson was calling backup quarterback Billy Volek for a ride after spending a brief time in handcuffs.
Jackson was stopped at 10 a.m. by a police officer who set a speed-trap along Murphy Canyon road. While not speeding, Jackson was pulled over due to the loud music from the his car. The officer cited that Jackson was operating contrary to a California law that prevents “the operation of any sound amplification system which can be heard outside the vehicle from 50 or more feet” (except for extenuating circumstances).
That stop itself was minor, given that the area was an empty non-residential location. Jackson’s response when asked to show license and [...]

When the Chargers went to face the Jets, they were a hot team looking to advance to face an opponent they had historically fared quite well against. Something happened in between the start of the playoffs and that date with Indianapolis however. The Jets.
Vincent Jackson, expected to be shut down by Darrell Revis had seven catches for 111 yards. Phillip Rivers put up nearly 300 yards. Mark Sanchez was held to being perfectly average, with just 100 yards on 12 of 23 passing with a TD and a pick. Thomas Jones was even stuff for less than three yards a carry and the attacking Jets defense only managed two sacks.
On paper most of what the Chargers wanted to happen would have seemed to. But in a game of inches, the team was buried on three plays.
The first goes to Nate [...]

The second round of the NFL playoffs have now been decided. In the AFC midseason monster Cincinnati and perennial powerhouse New England were both roughed up at home by their wildcard opponents. Coming out of the fifth seed, the victorious New York Jets are now the team San Diego will face in the divisional round.
New York topped the Bengals 24-14 in Cincinnati to advance to the divisional round of a playoffs they nearly missed. The Jets slipped to 4-6 by week 11, suffering a 1-6 skid after looking strong in by opening the year with a three game winning streak that included a statement match against division rival New England.
The Jets once more caught fire to closed the year with five wins in six games. The run included a match against Indianapolis where the Colts lead the [...]

The Buffalo Bills introduce their new General Manager today in Orchard Park, New York. Buddy Nix will take over as the new GM, effective immediately. Nix has over 14 years of NFL experience in a number of different capacities, most recently as the Bills national scout. His last executive positions was with the San Diego Chargers as their assistant GM/director of player personnel.
There were two other candidates who were jockeying for the position, but after a great face-to-face interview with team owner Ralph Wilson Nix was offered the job. Nix, who recently turned 70 years old, is taking over the position which was vacated by Marv Levy after the 2007 season.
The Bills Chief Operating Officer Russ Brandon, who was the interim GM since Levy's exit, was promoted to chief executive [...]

This is the first article in a five part series breaking down the rebuilding process for the Seattle Seahawks organization this off season. Starting with the front office and finding their GM to build the framework for a Super Bowl team. Second will be the coaching staff and who the possible GM's would hire. Third will be breaking down the current roster and who is staying and who is going. Fourth will be how the Seahawks should attack free agency and who they should sign realistically. Fifth will be the NFL and who they should take with their first four picks. Then there will be a concluding article summing up what the Seahawks roster [...]

Once again, Miami controlled the line of scrimmage- gaining 149 yards at 4.8 a carry, and limited San Diego to 69 yards on 2.5 a carry- and it meant absolutely nothing. People will try to pin this loss on the loss of Chad Pennington, but that had virtually nothing to do with it as we were on the same path regardless of who was the QB- Henne's pick 6 just made the difference that much worse. Some might also point to our defense giving up a few long completions, but we held them to only 1 TD and a handful of field goals, for a measly 16 offensive points scored for the Chargers. Simply put, Miami has no play makers on offense.
Miami played better on defense. They stopped the run, generally had good pass coverage (Rivers only completed 54.5% of his passes), tackled when they gave up [...]

After a gut punch of a loss to the Colts on Monday night at home, now the Phins get fly across the country and play the Chargers in San Diego coming off of a short week. At 0-2 so far things look grim, but we are 7-0 all time against the Chargers- including a win at home last year- so it CAN be done. Here is what I think we need to do.
Can somebody PLEASE tackle?!: I usually don't like to put basic, obvious things in my analysis- you know, "these guys need to tackle to win. In other news they need to score points, and also stop the other team from scoring points." Of course you need to tackle to win, but it would seem that some members of our defense forgot that last week, with every single Colts player who scored a touchdown was touched by at least one [...]

The Jim Mora Jr is officially under way and it has started off in grand fashion with a 20-14 pre season win over the San Diego Chargers.
Now I do stress that this is a pre season game and whoever wins just shows how deep in talent they are and how good their coaching is.
The Seahawks started out with Matt Hasselbeck under center. Knowing that this was their first pre [...]
