Brandon Spikes

As promised, my first NFL Mock Draft of the season continues with picks 11-20. The top ten looked to not have as many surprises, but with a lot of talent left on the board, we are sure to have another interesting first round this season. With players such as Dez Bryant, Taylor Mays, and CJ Spiller left on the board, it will be curious to see where they land in April. 11. Denver Broncos ( via Chicago)- Navorro Bowman OLB Penn State The Broncos finish the season at 8-8, with some few needs to fill. However, the defense still has a few gaping holes. They were 27th against the run this season, which to me senses more depth is needed at the linebacker position. Bowman is arguably the best out there, and has the athleticism to play any defensive scheme the Broncos play [...] Continue reading →
I stopped playing college football in 1991 and I have never looked back.  I rely on the experts to educate me on who, what and why for the NFL draft. Recently I have had two dozen people tell me that the Giants need LB Brandon Spikes from the Florida Gators. Excited about a big time linebacker...I looked up his stats. Brandon Spikes, is the cousin of Takeo Spikes who has been a linebacker in the NFL for 11 years with the Bengals, Bills, Eagles and currently the San Fransisco 49ers.  Brandon has done some nice things for the Gators; including coming back for his senior year instead of entering the draft as a junior. Brandon is no doubt a very good football player; however, I was concerned that his production slipped every year since his sophomore season at Florida.   He [...] Continue reading →
In a quite interesting move, the Chiefs didn't  let 2005 pro bowl wide receiver Chris Chambers stay unemployed for long. After being put on waivers monday by the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs have decided to claim Chambers off waivers just 24 hours after his released. Per profootballtalk (PFT) Chris Chambers has been claimed by the Chiefs. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/03/chiefs-claim-chris-chambers/ Unfortunately for the Chiefs, this isn't the same Chambers that was in Miami. Nagging injuries to his ankle have severely tarnished his career, taking him from a 70 catch 1000 yard [...] Continue reading →
Brooks did not deserve to be mentioned with ZERO. Zero wins, Brooks has been through his trials and far share of poor teams. Yet nothing as dejected at what I have witnessed thus far into a season. If the Glazers (owners of the franchise) were smart...wanted to do something for their fans (a band aide to the season that is) they would go out and beg on their hands...knees...butts...whatever it takes to get Herman Edwards on a flight from Bristol, Connecticut where he  works at ESPN (have no idea where the man lives) and get his ass firmly in front of the team to talk to them about how "you play to win the game". That is the aspect the Buc's seem to be lacking...an intensity....a fire...a passion to go out and play hard, leave it all out on the field. You saw the media point out [...] Continue reading →
