Rex Ryan is continuing to stir up some interesting quotes, even in the offseason.

The Huddle reported that Rex Ryan said:

“I told our players to wear their Jets stuff and be proud of it,” Ryan said. “There’s no reason we shouldn’t be proud to be a New York Jet. This isn’t the Same Old Jets, and any negative connotation that way is crazy.”

And Ryan added with a laugh, “Like I said, punch somebody in the nose for it if that’s the case. That’s the way we feel because our football team is tough.”

In other news, I am going to stop writing anything negative about the Jets.

But really, I like this quote, its showing fans that maybe these are not the same old Jets that breaks fans hearts year after year. And if they are willing to punch people in the nose for people to believe it,  I think I will start to believe it as well.

With the success of the 2009 season, it appears anything could be possible for the Jets. If/when Mark Sanchez develops into the franchise QB they hope he is (don’t want to jinx anything), the Jets can be a very deadly team.

Also, according to the Jet Stream, Kerry Rhodes has a very important announcement to make on SNY’s Wheelhouse show Wednesday at 5:30.

I think he is going to announce he is on the trading block or something about not being on the Jets in the future.

Rhodes played awful in the AFC Championship game and the Jets seem to have faith in backup Eric Smith. Rhodes is also due a $2 million roster bonus in March and I doubt the Jets want to give him that money.

Lets just hope the host Brian Custer does not say anything bad about the Jets, because if he does, he might be punched in the nose if Rhodes is still on the team.
