Ravens Week 13: Report Card
Quarterback: D
Joe Flacco made some mistakes all night were huge, but just part of the problem. First of all, he was running for his life all night long. Second of all, the team almost had more yards in penalties than offense, so Joe was in no position to win. The bottom line is, Ravens fans need to stop whining.
Running Back: C
It tells you something about how bad the offensive line was when Ray Rice only gets 54 yards rushing on 14 carries. McGahee had one touchdown, but on one 1st-and-goal, he should’ve run forward, but didn’t, lost three yards, and Joe threw a pick on the next play.
Wide Receiver/Tight End: D-
Awful night for the receivers. Even Rice dropped passes. Clayton was extremely nonexistent, Mason was quiet, and had a huge pass interference call. Kelley Washington was the only one who really played well.
Offensive Line: D
Flacco and Rice both had no room to breathe last night, so the Ravens mediocre receivers were exposed. Gaither was bad, Grubbs was worse, Yanda was bad, and Oher and Birk were both below average.
Defensive Line: B
The defensive line played rather well. They did a good job of stopping the run. Ryan Grant had just 41 yards on 18 carries, and the defense allowed 94 yards on the ground on 27 attempts. They even got some decent pressure, but no sacks, because Rodgers is doing a better job of getting rid of the ball earlier.
Linebackers: C+
I thought the linebackers played well, too. Ray Lewis had another good game, with seven tackles. Dannell Ellerbe was very good, as well. Jarret Johnson had an interception, and Tavares Gooden, who has played well lately, did a good job, as well.
Defensive Backs: C
This group is so up-and-down. Overall, they played well in a way, in that Rodgers wasn’t as efficient as usual. But, they got countless pass-interference penalties (four, in fact). Overall, I was happy with the way the defense played.
Coaching: F
The coaching was just brutal. The discipline of the team, mostly. The penalties kileld them against Green Bay, and it’s not the first time that’s happened to them. They were almost killed by it in Pittsburgh, and were in New England. On the year, the team has 81 penalties. That’s just mind-boggling. They average over six a game.
A little harsh on the coaching, don’t you think? Harbaugh didn’t get the penalties himself. The Ravens defensive backs needs to be less aggressive, but I’d give them a D in the Packers game. Too many PI’s. Thankfully we have an easy schedule coming up!
