NFL Touchdown Rankings Week 6
October 7, 2008
32. St. Louis Rams (0-4)
Just because they were off last week doesn’t mean we should forget how absolutely atrocious they are.
31. Detroit Lions (0-4)
Coming off a bye and getting beat by a divisional foe (Chicago) at home like that is absolutely inexcusable.
30. Kansas City Chiefs (1-4)
They were so bad last Sunday that they deserved to lose twice.
29. Cincinnati Bengals (0-5)
We’re back to crediting the Bengals for almost winning.
28. Oakland Raiders (1-3)
Al Davis doesn’t know much about Tom Cable. That’s good news for the former O-line coach. That means he won’t get stabbed in the back quite as early as most Raider coaches.
27. Houston Texans (0-4)
Leading the league in heartbreaks.
26. Seattle Seahawks (1-3)
Jeeze – what’s the deal?
25. Cleveland Browns (1-3)
A change at QB could maybe get the rudderless offense back on track.
24. San Francisco 49ers (2-3)
They were simply outclassed by a classier organization in Week 5.
23. Miami Dolphins (2-2)
Considering they’ve beaten New England and San Diego, this ranking might be short-changing Tony Sparano’s team just a bit. But let’s see how much longer the Ronnie Brown option play can work.
22. New Orleans Saints (2-3)
Reggie Bush stole the show Monday night, but the Saints’ first half mistakes allowed the Vikings to steal the game.
21. Minnesota Vikings (2-3)
They had better improve on special teams.
20. Green Bay Packers (2-3)
Aaron Rodgers is not the problem. It’s the downtrodden defense.
19. New York Jets (2-2)
It will be interesting to see if Brett Favre can maintain his Week 4 magic coming off the bye week.
18. Atlanta Falcons (3-2)
Matt Ryan is looking like the Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Mike Smith is looking like the NFL Coach of the Year.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3)
If there was no such thing as passing between the numbers, this defense would be looking pretty good right now.
16. Arizona Cardinals (3-2)
A win over Dallas this week would immediately trigger the Cards on the national radar.
15. Baltimore Ravens (2-2)
Same story as always: stifling defense, shaky offense.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2)
There’s something a little off with this offense. It’s like vanilla ice cream that has a hint of freezer ice taste to it.
13. Philadelphia Eagles (2-3)
They’re still better than a majority of the teams in the NFL, but injuries and lackadaisical play have put them behind early in the cutthroat NFC East.
12. San Diego Chargers (2-3)
Is everything okay with L.T.?
11. Indianapolis Colts (2-2)
Great teams find ways to win even when they’re not playing well. And honestly, do you really think they’ll be playing poorly come November?
10. Buffalo Bills (4-1)
Here’s hoping Trent Edwards’s concussion doesn’t change Buffalo’s season.
9. Denver Broncos (4-1)
Huh. Maybe they can play defense.
8. New England Patriots (3-1)
We were reminded last Sunday that a Bill Belichick-coached team is always going to make the adjustments it needs in order to win.
7. Chicago Bears (3-2)
The defense is stifling and, with Kyle Orton playing well and Matt Forte impressing in his first few games, the offense is coming along.
6. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1)
You can’t count on Big Ben carrying the team on his back every week. Can you?
5. Carolina Panthers (4-1)
Shhhh….we’re not supposed to talk about this team.
4. Dallas Cowboys (4-1)
What they need is a matchup against a physical club that will hit them in the mouth and provide a wakeup call. Unfortunately, they face Arizona and St. Louis these next two weeks. Don’t be shocked if they come away 5-2.
3. Washington Redskins (4-1)
Guarantee you Jim Zorn would have gladly accepted a 2-1 road record within the division. They’ve gone into Dallas and Philadelphia and flat-out beaten their opponent.
2. Tennessee Titans (5-0)
Best record in football – and the main reason why is NFL MVP Albert Haynesworth.
1. New York Giants (4-0)
They lose Tiki Barber and Jeremy Shockey and win the Super Bowl. They lose Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora, suspend Plaxico Burress and finish undefeated at the quarter point. You think maybe they’d benefit from Eli Manning going down – or is that taking it too far?

I think the Rams are better than last place…they are rejuvenated and are playing for a cause to win.
