My Pessimistic View on the Jets vs. Bengals Matchup
One thing I have learned from being a Jets’ Fan is expect the worst, hope for the best: which is exactly what I am going to do with the Jets vs. Bengals game Sunday night.
I have seen the story over and over, the Jets are in the playoff race looking good, then they just fall flat on their face. Whether it is in the regular season or in the playoffs, it always ends the same way, every Jets fans heart broken.
The football gods where kind to the Jets sunday, everyone lost that needed to losse and the Colts decided to rest their starters. I immediatly thought the Jets luck might be changing.
When I thought deeper into it I realized it is just another ploy from the football gods for the Jets to fall flat on their face just like every year since 1969.
Things are going wrong for the Jets already, Chad Ochocinco said when he asked head coach Marvin Lewis what they are going to do he responded: “We’re playing the whole game. We’re playing to win.”
Also, Darrelle Revis sat out today with an illness, not a good start going into the game Sunday.
Going into the game as a pessimist, here are several scenarios what I think might happen in Sundays game
Scenario One “Cal vs. Stanford” : Bengals play their starters and its an all out brawl between the two teams. With one second left the Jets score a field goal to bring them into the lead by three. Then on the kick off ,the Jets squib it. The Bengals pull a Cal vs. Stanford and keep lateraling it while the Jets cheerleaders are on the field. The Bengals score and unfortunately one of the Jets cheerleaders gets trampled and spiked on by the Bengal who scored the touchdown.
Scenario Two “Sunday Night Miracle”: Going into the fourth quarter the Jets will be up 30-7. Then Cris Collinsworth will pronounce the game over. The Bengals would then come alive and score 20 unanswered points. The Jets will score a touchdown with little time remaining. The Bengals would send the game into overtime with a touchdown reception from Andre Wittworth, Bengals Offensive Tackle. The Bengals would then win the in overtime and the game would be named the “Sunday Night Miracle”.
Scenario Three “The Replacements”: The Bengals decide to rest their starters, Jets fans rejoice around the world. But for only one night, J.T. O’sullivan, backup QB, will turn into Joe Montana in his prime, backup RB Bernard Scott will turn into Walter Payton and, the Bengals second string D will turn into the 1976 Steelers defense. The replacements will beat the Jets starters 70-3. They will let the Jets get a field goal in the final seconds cause they feel bad for them.
I feel as if I expect one of these scenarios to turn out I have nothing to lose. If the Jets lose I expected it, but if they win, I can be pleasantly surprised.
Surely, It is a hard knock life being a Jet fan.
Now I want to hear from you:
Will the Bengals rest their starters? Will the Jets end up not making the post season? Which one of the scenarios is most likely to happen?
