Mora Moves: Shaking Up The Offensive Line
At his usual Wednesday afternoon press conference, Seahawks head coach Jim Mora Jr. made some jaw-dropping comments of what he wants this “team” to become.
Mora used two key words to answer Seattle Times reported Danny O’Neil’s question. Dirt bags and nasty. Two words that really have never been apart of Seahawks football.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears (Samari Mike Singletary), and maybe the Dallas Cowboys of old would be the teams headlining the list of “nasty”.
However Mora wanted to make it very clear of his definition of “nasty” and “dirt bags”.
He wants to see Sean Locklear shove a defensive end right on his arse when there is a running play. He wants to see Locklear, as well as the offensive line hold a block and not have the quarterback get sacked for an entire game. That’s what Jim Mora wants.
He doesn’t want a Richie Incognito type of player who gets nailed with 15-yard personal foul calls every other play. He wants players to be nasty, cut a defensive player down but at the same time play within the rules, unlike Incognito.
So as Mora stated after the game there would be changes coming as the Seahawks aim toward the future.
Rookie Right guard Max Unger will be making a permident move to center, replacing the ineffective Chris Spencer. In turn Spencer will move to Right guard and split time with second year guard Mike Gibson.
Gibson was acquired off waivers from the Eagles early in the season. He’s not played a game up until this point. Gibson will get the start this week at home against the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Spencer will finish out the second half.
Gibson might be a possible future RG long term.
