Houston, The Final Countdown Has Started!
Well the preseason is over. The Texans went 2-2 in the preseason and showed some improvement and, unfortunately, some regression. The important thing now is …… ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!
The Texans have gotten CB Dunta Robinson back and even though he has not practiced or played a down the emotional boost to the defense will help. DT Travis Johnson just got traded away ( cheer!!! ) but Eugine Wilson is injured.
It appears at this writing that the starting lineup for the season opener against the NY Jets is as follows:
QB - Matt Schuab ( sore ankle )
RB - Steve Slayton/Chris Brown
WR - Andre Johnson/Andre Davis/Jacoby Jones
TE - Owen Daniels/Joel Dreessen
O Line - the same starters as last year
D Line - no change from last year except DT Deljuan Robinson will start(?)
Linebackers - no change from last year although SSLB is now Brian Cushing
CB - Here is where it gets interesting. With Robinson back will he start or just sub? If he subs then it looks like Bennett and Reeves, if Dunta starts then Bennett doesn’t.
Safeties - Barber on the strong side and possibly Busing on the FS spot. This looks to the the weak spot in the defense.
As of this writing the only prediction I could find was Houston 23 Jets 21. While that doesn’t mean much I like the pick considering they are playing in Houston and it is “White Out” time there. Look for a close game with Houston winning on a late field goal.
I hope they start Bennett over Robinson. Bennett has had a good offseason and preseason and he was never that bad to begin with. No way Robinson is in top condition after sitting out so long….
