Green Bay Packers Draft Quick Glance
With the hiring of defensive coordinator Dom Capers, the Packers are making a dramatic shift from a 4-3 to a 3-4. They have two excellent ILB candidates in place in the speedy Nick Barnett and the sturdy A.J. Hawk. They need a pass-rushing OLB to play opposite Aaron Kampman. The draft is loaded with edge-rushing talent – Florida State’s Everett Brown or Penn State’s Aaron Maybin could be a good fit.
The Packers also need to beef up their defensive line. A lot of people think Green Bay could target a NT, but they already have a solid option in veteran Ryan Pickett. It’s more likely they’ll beef up the DE position in the later rounds.
On the other side of the ball, offensive tackle is a weak spot. Mark Tauscher wore down on the right side last season, and Chad Clifton is likely to follow suit sometime in the next year or two. The Packers could shift Daryn Colledge from guard back to his natural LT spot, but they still need to bring in at least one long-term starting candidate.
