Favre vs Childress
The word schism has been thrown around about the Minnesota Vikings a couple different times this season. Each time the conflict has involved Brett Favre and the way he goes about his career in the NFL.
The first time I heard the word schism mentioned was when it was reported that the Vikings locker room was split on the decision to bring in Favre. This problem quickly went away when Favre took the field and led the Vikings to six straight wins to start the season.
Then around a week ago, I heard the now infamous word again. This time it was reported that their was a new schism in the Vikings locker room, but this time it was between Favre and head coach Brad Childress. It all started when TV cameras caught a heated exchange between Favre and Childress on the sideline of the Sunday night game versus the Carolina Panthers. The Vikings were up 7-6, but were definitely struggling and reports surfaced that Childress wanted to replace Favre with the faster and more athletic Tavaris Jackson but Favre refused.
After this the flood gates opened up, and numerous stories about disagreements between the ageless quarterback and the coach who pulled him out of retirement surfaced. We found out that there have been at least two other times where Favre refused to come out of a game, even when Childress demanded it. And then we found out about the fact that Favre has been audible out of run plays and into pass plays, which goes against the Childress’ whole run first philosophy.
We shouldn’t be surprised about these reports, after all this is Brett Favre were talking about. Remember he is the guy who held two different teams hostage for entire offseasons , while retired and then came out of retirement numerous times. But it still isn’t something to take lightly. The Vikings are a team that is looking to make a run at the Super Bowl, and to do so there can’t be any distractions whatsoever.
Both Favre and Childress have recently come out and said that everything is fine and they have patched things up. The Vikings and their fans better hope this is true, because if it isn’t then they will have no chance at making a run to the Super Bowl.

When are people going to realize that Brett Favre is a diva? How many other quarterbacks have this kind of issue with their head coach?
