Eagles TE Brent Celek Allowing Fans An Opportunity To Join His Fantasy Football League

July 25, 2010 by

Like many professional athletes, Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek is expected to be one of the top players selected at his position in fantasy football leagues this upcoming season. After finishing with 76 receptions for 971 yards and eight touchdowns, many analysts expect Celek to emerge as a top five tight fantasy tight end now that his close friend–Kevin Kolb–has taken over the starting job at quarterback for the Eagles.

One of the reasons why Celek is a fan favorite in the City of Brotherly Love is because he loves to interact with his fans by frequently updating his Facebook Fan Page and Twitter status. As a reward to his fans, he’s giving them a chance for a rare opportunity by allowing them to participate in his fantasy football league.

On Saturday, Celek started a contest on his Facebook page where he will pick 11 fans to participate in a fantasy football league with him–but there’s a catch. Instead of picking fans at random, the former Cincinnati Bearcat decided to make it more interesting by having his fans perform tasks to earn a spot in the league.

So far, two contestants–Charles Alexander and Derek Diep–are the first two winners to join Celek in his fantasy league. While Alexander earned a spot by being the first fan to respond to one of Brent’s wall posts, Diep clinched the second spot by being the first to send in a picture of himself wearing Celek’s jersey in front of a stop sign.

With nine spots remaining in the league, it should be interesting to see what other fun tasks Celek has his fans perform. No matter what they may be, it’s great to see another professional athlete taking the time to interact with his fans.
