Cleveland Refuses To Win Against Detroit
The Detroit Lions found out one thing today, it’s almost impossible to lose to the Cleveland Browns. The 2-8 Lions spotted Cleveland a 24-3 lead in the first quarter. Then after taking the lead 31-27 in the third quarter, gave up a safety, a touchdown and a two point conversion to put the Browns up 37-31. Still Cleveland refused to win. Even after a desperation pass by Detroit was intercepted in the end zone to end the game, the Browns were not done. Pass interference was called on Hank Poteat. Detroit ball on the one, no time left. One last play. You guessed it. Matt Stafford throws a touchdown pass to Brandon Pettigrew. Browns lose.
While compiling a 1-8 record, you could always blame the offense for the losses. Sure the defense hasn’t played very well but the offense has been horrendous. Not today. Cleveland scored 37 points. Brady Quinn had a career day, passing for 304 of Cleveland’s 439 total yards. Quinn also threw four TD passes. The offense finally showed up and did their job.
Plain and simple, Cleveland is a very bad team. Bad teams find ways to lose. They beat themselves, they are rarely prepared to play, they fold under pressure, they give up, they lack confidence, well you get the picture. Only time will tell what effect losing a game they had won, against the lowly Detroit Lions, will have on them. One good thing is the players haven’t quit. The majority of them are still playing hard.

Thanks Chris. It was good to see Quinn have such a good day. It’s a shame the defense didn’t show up. I think I’ve seen every way there is to lose a football game while watching the Browns over the years. I take nothing for granted.
