Changes Coming In Seattle?
Just another Jim Mora Jr. press conference rant after their 34-7 loss to the Houston Texans. The loss takes Seattle out of playoff contention and the way this team has played this season they don’t deserve to be listed in playoff contention and today was a good wake up call.
Now I have been supporting Mora in Seattle up until this season. Former Seahawks GM Tim Ruskell brought in Mora two years ago as the secondary coach and assistant head coach. In his first season the Seahawks secondary was amongst the best in the league and even though last year was a little step back they played very well.
When Jim Mora Jr. was tabbed as the successor to Mike Holmgren I had a feeling that he would not be a very good coach in Seattle and this season and the teams play has confirmed that.
Now yes the Seahawks have been setback with injuries this season to LT Walter Jones and MLB Lofa Tatupu. However excuses only last so long and backup MLB David Hawthorne has been shining bright amongst the Seahawks depleted defense since becoming a starter.
So there is no excuse for the lackluster defensive play that the Seahawks have been showing this season.
At left tackle, Sean Locklear received a five year, $32 million dollar contract last off season because he was suppose to be the heir appertain to Jones. But his performance this season might force the Seahawks to release the “has-been” Left Tackle.
Outside of those two positions the Seahawks just don’t have the talent to create a winning organization which leads many people to expect changes coming in the next few weeks.
Jim Mora said at his press conference after the game that “their will be changes made if we feel they will help”. Mora was expecially fumed about the horrendous play of the Seahawks offensive line against the Houston Texans.
So what changes could coach Mora be refering to?
Well it could mean the releasing of any one on the offensive line with the exception of Walter Jones who has been contimplating retirment in the recent weeks.
It could mean the official benching of running back Julius Jones in favor of the flashy Justin Forsett. It could mean the benching of quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and giving rookie Mike Teel a few snaps to finish out the season.
Who knows maybe Mora will pull a Tim Ruskell and resign as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Something that might come up this off season if the Seahawks bring in an outside GM to fill Tim Ruskell’s void.
Either way you decided to look at the current situation of the Seattle Seahawks organization. One thing is clear, this team is in for a long ride to rebuild what was once a great franchise.
One person you didn’t mention who deserve the brunt of the abuse is that so called offensive coordinator, what a freaking joke. This guy needs to go couch peewee. I have been a couch at a university for 9 years and have never seen a more incompetent OC then this guy. He stunk in Atlanta and is worse in Seattle.
That’s for the comment Larry. Well the reason I didn’t meantion the idiot Knapp is because if Mora gets fired than you know everyone else is gone so it takes up what would be a chain reaction. Yea he has done a crap job as well as everyone in seattle.
I tend to believe Mora on this one. They have a new GM coming in and the roster is young in certain spots. It’s a perfect time to rebuild. Changes on the o-line and d-line needs to be made.
The time to rebuild was last year, which they missed. So yea OL,QB,RB,DL,DB
