My apologies to my loyal readers for the delay. I watched the draft, and I should've have written something immediately, but I didn't want to force an article.
I had come home from a hard practice for my own semi-pro team when it was around the 20th pick in the draft.
I text messaged my close friend and fellow fan voice, Isaac Barrow, who actually recommended me for the fan voice here, to call my home phone so that may we discuss the draft. He and I discussed for hours about the picks that had been made, who we predicted would be picked next, who fell farther than they should have, and who made the stupid picks.
During that time, he was convinced that Dez Bryant was going to be a Raven. Bryan Bulaga had just been taken by the Packers and New England, I believe, was on the clock [...]

An astounding number of teams spent their first-round pick on a position that, going into the draft, seemed to already be filled. These moves are always intriguing. Sometimes they're a result of a team actually following the lauded "best player available" drafting model. But, usually, it's a team saying "Fans might like the players we already have at this position, but we sure don't." Here's a look at each of those scenarios from Round 1.
Pick 8: Oakland Raiders, ILB Rolando McClain

The game of football is like fighting in World War I. You win by control the trenches. If you can control the main part of the event, you will be favored to win every time.
Dallas has the guys in the trenches to win every time, but it is important to make sure that, just like in war, to be prepared for reinforcements. Football teams need capable men backing up the main starters, so that when a starter is injured, the team doesn't have to panic.
Dallas has a starting line that are dominant. You have regular Pro Bowlers in right guard, Leonard Davis, and center, Andre Gurode. Left guard, Kyle Kosier, and right tackle, [...]

Friendly Disclaimer: The following list is influenced largely -- but not strictly -- by film study of all 32 teams from the 2009 season. It is not a prediction for the 2010 season, though the future isn't utterly ignored. Vague enough for you? Top 10 lists tend to be. That's why most of you will have no trouble finding ways to gripe over what you're about to read.
10. Jason Brown, St. Louis Rams

As a fan, one has to deal with the loss of players. Every year, the NFL teams trim their rosters to make the best 53 players for their team, and sometimes that includes losing players you are used to.
Flozell Adams had been a Dallas Cowboy for twelve years. Twelve years and five Pro Bowls for the Big D.
Ken Hamlin has been a Cowboy since 2007. He had made the Pro Bowl in his first year here after having 5 interceptions in a great year, but the last two years, he's been taking bad angles and missing tackles and only had one interception.
His cutting, while sad, was in a way predictable because he wasn't living up to the standards that were necessary for him.
The cutting of Flozell Adams is still a shock to me and I don't know why the Cowboys got rid of him.
He was getting [...]

I hate free agency after the big players are signed. After Julius Peppers and LaDainian Tomlinson went to other teams, I got bored.
Dallas is a big part of that boredom because they haven’t done anything. They haven’t pursued anybody that may have need of.

Dallas has very few things to address in free agency, and mainly will go for depth in the draft, but I do know that placekicker is near the top of the list.
I truly believed that we had struck gold when we had drafted Nick Folk and he made those clutch kicks in the Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills when he hit back to back 53 yard field goals.
However, a hip injury that led to surgery just messed him up. Some of it is his fault, but kickers have to healthy lower bodies in order to be successful. Dallas signed Shaun Shisham temporarily, but he's not the permanent solution. Dallas needs a real kicker, and I think we have one right in our own backyard.
The fall months of 2009 went like this. Everyday I go to a boring college class at a community college because it [...]

Miles Austin is, without a doubt, an incredible receiver. His first start was against Kansas City and he had 10 catches for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime.
When my [...]
