Brady Quinn Done For The Season

It was reported that Brady Quinn will be placed on injured reserve with a foot injury ending his season with two games left. It is not certain if surgery will be needed. Quinn injured his foot on his 24 yard run near the end of last weeks game against Kansas City.

While this is a big loss for the Browns and Eric Mangini, who desperately needs wins, it’s an even bigger loss for Quinn. With new President Mike Holmgren now in place, Quinn needed to  have a strong finish to impress his new boss. Now all Holmgren will have is film to watch to determine if a new QB should be brought in for next year.

While he has shown improvement during the course of the season, Quinn is still a work in progress and needs to improve on both accuracy and getting the ball down the field more. Another thing to consider is Quinn has finished each of the last two seasons on IR. That brings up the question of whether he can he be durable enough? It’s a shame his season is over.

Now Derek Anderson will get still another chance to prove he is better than what he’s already shown this year. This will be an excellent chance for Anderson to audition for possibly another team as well as for Holmgren. My guess is we’ll probably see about 50 plus running plays against Oakland this Sunday.
