Taking a look at Scott Pioli's past, it's no surprise to me that he's already making a splash in free agency. Since the March 5th start date, the Chiefs have made some impressive signings, to say the least.
Since free agency, the Chiefs have signed running back Thomas Jones from the Chiefs, defensive lineman Shaun Smith, and offensive lineman Casey Wiegmann and Ryan Lilja. News like this is likely music to the ears of Chiefs fan, especially with Wiegmann reuniting with his former team. Unfortunately, that's not always the case.
Let's be honest here, Thomas Jones had a career year last year. His 1,402 yards was only behind number two leading Steven Jackson, and his 14 TD's in his 331 carries was amongst the best in the league. Despite his numbers, let's not jump the gun here. Jones [...]

There's nothing I loathe more in the NFL off-season than the sound of a pin drop, which is exactly what the off-season has been so far. Surely some will say "Did you see LT and Westbrook get the pink slip?" and personally, it comes to no suprise to me. What's more annoying, is seeing the rumors of the Chiefs trading Glenn Dorsey. For those who havn't heard, rumor has it that the Chiefs were inquired about moving Dorsey to the Lions, a 4-3 defenive unit, so that Dorsey could be moved back into the right system.
Personally, I don't see it happening. Mainly because the Chiefs are going to ask for an overpay, and quite frankly that's just not going to happen.
Now, onto the NFL Draft itself. Just think, less than 2 months, and we're there. Personally, I can't wait myself, so let's start [...]

There's an old saying that has been passed down generation by generation. That saying being "Good things come to those who wait." It seems to me, like the Chiefs took that to heart, and gladly so. Although the 2009 season didn't end the way the Chiefs hoped for, they already look forward to making 2010 a success. In a shocking turn of events, the Chiefs have hired themselves two well respected coordinators. On the offensive side, former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis is now in charge of the offense, and former Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is in charge as the defensive coordinator.
Before I go any further, I have a feeling quite a few fans are questioning the signings, because of their recent track record. With that said, let's speak for a moment as to why both [...]

As a fan, it's difficult to watch your team go down in defeat, especially when you are 3-12, and your season has been over for nearly 6 weeks now. Being ranked in the bottom 5 in defense and offense isn't helping, and knowing that your defensive change, didn't really help much, doesn't exactly heal all wounds.
So what can you take from this season as a Chiefs fan? One thing is unity. Take a look at the roster. Your offense consists of running backs who are solid backs, but nothing more. Your wide receivers depend on Dwayne Bowe, who misses 90% of the season because of injury, suspension, and other off-field activites. Then what do you have? An offensive line with a lack of depth, by any means, and a quarterback who's only season in the league wenty from throwing to Two Pro Bowlers, to [...]

This week marks the first time in weeks that the Chiefs have been able to have their Pro Bowl caliber WR Dwayne Bowe in the line-up. Prior to the match-up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bowe was suspended by the NFL for use of an illegal substance. Now that his suspension is up, Bowe is allowed to return to the field.
The question that rises from this is simple. Should Todd Haley let Dwayne Bowe play? Personally, I vote for "No", and I don't think twice about it.
Let's just see for example, where trouble within the locker room has gotten teams recently. Cincinnati Bengals never had that kind of issue.... Oh wait. Well hey! What about Jacksonville... Oh wait. Upon further thought, lack of discipline hasn't gotten any team, anywhere. For those who don't recall, Bowe isn't exactly on [...]

It seems like the Chiefs are still basking in the glow over the Overtime win two weeks ago against Pittsburgh. Maybe it's time someone remind them that they've had two games since. For the second straight week, the Chiefs took by 4 scores, with a 44-13 lost to Denver.
Here's what will be hard to understand about the last two weeks. The scoreboard honestly doesn't reflect on the teams play.
Although the pass defense didn't do well against Rivers, they did stop LT, by all means(minus the goal line situations) and the offense has been improving. Jamaal Charles is making better cuts, and seeing running lanes better than he was before, and in a shocking turn of events, the offensive line isn't doing all that bad.
The problem the Chiefs seem to be having is getting the first down. Last [...]

Mr. Irrelevant,

Ryan Succop
In the 1976 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers were the first team to ever select Mr. Irrelevant. 33 Years later, no one would have imagined that the Steelers would regret being the trend setter.
Ryan Succop, the 254th overal pick in the NFL draft this year became the 4th "Mr. Irrelevant" to ever start in the NFL. For those who don't know what that is, "Mr. Irrelevant" is the player who is picked very last in the draft every year. Oddly enough, the NFL actually gives a prize pack away to the player who is picked last. The NFL will give the "winner" is a week long expense-paid vacation, where they hold events to celebrate the players "irrelevance" in the draft, and even give the player a "fake" trophy that resembles the Heisman Trophy(which is the NCAA's MVP trophy.)
Ironically, the [...]

Why do I get this sudden feeling like no one cares? Maybe its because they probably don't, and I can't say I blame them, at all.
On monday, the Chiefs released the former Pro Bowl back, who was just 75 yards short of breaking Priest Holmes team record for rushing yards. Johnson found himself in the doghouse yet again after his recent debacle with the media, where Johnson publically threw out several homosexual slurs towards head coach Todd Haley. Johnson, since joining the Chiefs, has been arrested four times, and twice been suspended by the team for his detrimental conduct.
My first thoughts are thus, why did they even put up with him for so long? Johnson had two good years(the second which many fans say Edwards "destroyed" by having Johnson run as much as he did) and other than [...]

In a quite interesting move, the Chiefs didn't let 2005 pro bowl wide receiver Chris Chambers stay unemployed for long. After being put on waivers monday by the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs have decided to claim Chambers off waivers just 24 hours after his released.
Per profootballtalk (PFT) Chris Chambers has been claimed by the Chiefs. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/03/chiefs-claim-chris-chambers/
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, this isn't the same Chambers that was in Miami. Nagging injuries to his ankle have severely tarnished his career, taking him from a 70 catch 1000 yard [...]

"Will the real Matt Cassel, please stand up?"
For those on the Chiefs football team that didn't stand up, congratulations, you were on the trade block. I wish I could have made this up.
The last week of the NFL has been one of the most exciting that the league has ever had around the time of the trade deadline. The Chiefs themselves even made a move, dealing nose tackle Tank Tyler to Carolina for an undisclosed draft pick in 2010. By the looks of it, it doesn't seem like Tyler was the only Chief who was wondering about where his home will be next week.
As the old saying goes, "Peace Sells, but Who's Buying?" Apparently, Todd Haley and Scott Pioli sure aren't. There was no secret to Haley's minimal stance for misbehavior by his newly acquired team during training camp this past [...]
