Good afternoon. Sorry for the long layoff in posting, I've been having a fair share of internet problems the past few weeks and I could hardly find time to get on the internet much less do any blogging. Anyway, that's all clear so hopefully I'll start getting back to regular  posting again. There's been a lot said about the Rams early moves in free agency since it started on Friday. They signed perennial backup quarterback AJ Feeley on Friday and then signed DT Fred Robbins yesterday. These moves, while not intended to make a big splash, are necessary additions in my opinion. The Rams needed a veteran presence in the quarterback department on the sideline not knowing Marc Bulger's future and the fact that Kyle Boller is not coming back. Robbins should fortify a defensive line that [...] Continue reading →
Happy Singles Awareness Day, Rams fans. Wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying time with your loved one (or if you're like me spending quality time with yourself). First things first, a follow up on the story I wrote about a couple weeks ago: Steven Jackson will not face charges following the accusal from his ex girlfriend that he beat her. The Las Vegas Police Department said they talked to both Jackson and his ex girlfriend Supriya Harris before determining there was "insufficient" evidence to move ahead with the case and formally charge Jackson. I was not surprised to hear this news, as the accusations and timing seemed fishy in the first [...] Continue reading →
As I'm sure many of you know by now, Steven Jackson was accused of beating his eight month pregnant girlfriend in March of 2009. The accuser is the girlfriend herself, Supriya Harris. Harris claims Jackson pushed her repeatedly into a door handle, causing a scar on her stomach and great pain. Jackson denied the allegation later in the day, calling them "untrue" and that he won't address these issues through media outlets. I'll get to my take in a few moments, but first a handful of links on the situation: Turf Show Times post as the story broke [...] Continue reading →
Happy offseason, Rams' fans! It couldn't have come sooner than it has, with the Rams dragging to a 1-15 finish after losing their final game to the San Francisco 49ers, who finished 8-8 and second in the NFC West. Today, I would like to identify some big needs for the Rams this offseason. Obviously, a 1-15 team is going to have lots of needs, but I'm going to try and nail down some of the bigger ones needed for the Rams to be at least a bit more successful in the upcoming 2010 season. Today, I'm going simply identify the needs. In a future post, I will address the solution to those needs. These are in no particular order. 1. Quarterback Obviously, the Rams did not have the most productive season in regards to the man behind center. Marc Bulger (when he wasn't hurt) [...] Continue reading →
I'm sure you sitting on the edge of your seats this past Sunday afternoon watching the Rams drop another home game, their elevenith straight, 27-17 to division rival Seattle. The loss was discouraging in many ways, as the 1-10 Rams failed to show any improvement from the previous home losses to New Orleans and Arizona and in fact, many people would argue they regressed. The game had many disturbing trends, as the offense continued their putridness, the special teams were less than spectacular, and the run defense left much to be desired. It was a game of trends for sure, and the Rams seemed to be trending downward instead of upward. However, the one thing that seems to be not as discussed are the crucial injuries that the Rams have sustained that past couple of weeks. I know an NFL [...] Continue reading →

Saints @ Rams Preview

November 13, 2009 by
I'll get to the preview in a second, but first some bulleted notes as I shuffle through the week in Rams news. Sunday's game is in fact a sell out. The team asked for and received a 24 hour extension yesterday, and was able to sell out the game before noon today. The game will be broadcast on KTVI locally. Craig Dahl and David Roach were both fined for hits during the Lions game. Zach Follett, who layed the (apparent) helmet to helmet on Danny Amendola, was not [...] Continue reading →

The State of the Team

November 6, 2009 by
Hey everybody. I have had completely no time this week to post about the Rams first win so I apologize for that. Unfortunately, I still lack much time to post anything with much subject matter so I'm going to whore out and post something from a different blog that I wrote last Friday. I'll be back sometime next week with bye week musings. You can find the original post of my story here. I also suggest you check out some of the other things Turf Show Times has to offer, it's a great site. Have a great weekend everyone. The State of the Team About ten years ago, the [...] Continue reading →

A Look Into the Future

October 28, 2009 by
In case you missed it, the Rams lost a blowout to the Colts on Sunday 42-6. The fourth quarter represented the first time the team quit on coach Steve Spagnuolo this season. Disappointing it was, but it's about all you expect from an 0-6 (now 0-7) team playing down by 4 TDs in the fourth quarter. The Rams were in it early in the second half, having the ball only down 15, and Bulger threw a pick-six that took the air out of the them and the stadium. The rest was just uninspired, poor football. I'm not going to lie to you, this team is not fun to write about right now. They're 0-7, have been basically blown out of 6 of those 7 games, and are the most talent devoid team I may have even seen. On top of that, some of penalties the team takes are infuriating and self-destructive. The offense [...] Continue reading →
Sorry for the lack of posting last week, midterm time can really be stressful on a student. Anyway, in case you didn't know, the Rams got trounced yesterday 35-0. The offense and special teams played awful and the defense played great. Here are my negatives and positives from the game yeserday: Steven Jackson: Positive Rest of the Offense: Negative Special Teams: Negative Coaching (mostly): Negative And that's basically all you need to know about the game yesterday. So, in place of a regular game recap, today I'm going to look at the bigger picture of things, as one usually does after a loss like yesterday's. The 2009 Rams are awful. They generally lack talent on both sides of the ball, and where they do have talent there's other problems. I've begun to accept this, [...] Continue reading →
Some news items to get through today, stories courtesy of STLToday.com. OLs Jason Smith and Jason Brown both have sprained knees.  Brown is day-to-day and is expected to practice tomorrow and play on Sunday. Smith will miss one or two games with a more severe sprain. Adam Goldberg will step into his place, and as you saw on Sunday, he is more than capable. The Derek Stanley experiment is over. The Rams have cut him [...] Continue reading →
