It's a fickle world of coincidences these days. After a weekend to remember at the Metrodome (now formally named Mall of America Field), the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings have played their best games of their season and maybe their franchises' history on consecutive back-to-back nights. The fans of Minnesota felt like they were in a Buffalo Wild Wings and couldn't decide what to watch.
On Monday night (and Tuesday for that matter) the eyes of the nation watched as Brett Favre lead the boys in purple against his former team in a game many said would define his season and make or break the Vikings playoff hopes.
After that fateful night, not only are Vikings fans talking playoffs, they're talking the whole piece of pie in Miami, Florida.
Brett Favre put up a great [...]

As we now have entered the third week of the regular season, the NFL has begun revolving; deciding early fates of teams with playoff hopes and dreams. Those dreams have bits and pieces that are decided by one or two players. These players have games decided by single plays in single moments... and sometimes by single yards.
One thing is for sure, the Vikings have a key facet that just won't ever be recognized for anything less the attention-getter.
Even after Adrian Peterson's monster game in week one against the Cleveland Browns rushing for 180 yards and three touchdowns, one of them for 64-yards, Brett Favre was the talk of the town.
Probably the only QB in the league that threw for 110 yards and one touchdown that got as much publicity.
Then after a sloppy first [...]

All over the NFL on Tuesday, fans, players and critics alike rejoice for the signing of Brett Favre to the Minnesota Vikings... except for Green Bay Packer fans... then Tuesday was a day of mourning.
To be fair, the Favre signing has brought out three different responses, each unique and passionate in some degree. To those in Green Bay and Packers fans abroad, the signing is seen as a cardinal sin and now has Packer fans ripping the cheese from their brains in disgust.
Another is the response of Minnesota Vikings fans that praise the fact that the quarterback leading them is not a no-namer, but most likely the most famous quarterback to ever play the game.
Then there's everone else, that are caught to the point of being overjoyed that [...]

Around the months of March through June, the NFL offseason goes through a hiatus of sorts. It's a natural occurrence this time of year, and usually forces us football fans to span out and watch baseball, or observe the NBA and NHL drafts.
However, the past two seasons, NFL fans have been spoiled by the Brett Favre saga.
It has kept football fans with a strong grapple on the pulse of the NFL due to Favre's "comebacks." Implications of him coming back have changed team's outlooks on the season and fan's expectations of teams.
In 2008, the Jets came in with "playoffs or bust" expectations. Ironically enough, the Vikings of 2009 are in a "Super Bowl or bust" mode. With this set as the highest risk for both parties involved (Favre and the Vikings), there is no higher [...]

As the Brett Favre saga continues, we come to the fork in the road of "what if"s that can finally be taken with a sense of seriousness, especially regarding the quarterback situation for the Minnesota Vikings. It's no longer a matter of "if," but of "when."
With Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels set to do battle, a lone old gunslinger enters the scene having the chance to immediately make a change and take control.
When Favre arrives, though, the Minnesota Vikings will have four quarterbacks in the three-way dance. That said, someone will probably be traded or cut to make room for the 19-year veteran.
The question now boils down to whom. Many have singled out second-year quarterback and current owner of the purple's number four, John David Booty.
Cutting Booty [...]

The schedule of an NFL team can speak volumes of how great they truly are. Then again, it can also prove how weak and pathetic they are. In 2008, the Minnesota Vikings had one of the toughest schedules in the NFL and finished with a strong 10-6 record.
All the same, a weak record to an NFL team can mean an easier road to destiny. In 2009, the Minnesota Vikings have among the easiest schedules in the NFL. With only six teams (seven games) of their seventeen game schedule had winning records in 2008.
With that said, Minnesota could see an easier road, yet may see some of the biggest teams in the NFL all the same.

In 2008, the Carolina Panthers road into the Metrodome riding a 2-0 record [...]

The Minnesota State University: Mankato has played host to the Minnesota Vikings training camp ever since 1966 (before that, Bemidji State University played host to the Minnesota Vikings training camp from 1961-1965), and this year will be no different.
The Minnesota Vikings, at this point, have four remaining organized team activities before camp, but the position fights are on the card and stamped for mid July.
Many teams go out over the offseason to improve a team's week spot through free agency or the draft, still, I am a firm believer that there is no substitute for answering a need from within and letting the players on the roster solve the dispute for the position.
Competitive nature is what makes football what it is and is the truest form of showing a [...]

The Minnesota Vikings have been silent all offseason to answering their needs during free agency. On top of that, the Vikings scratched 78 names off of their potential draft picks before the draft and thus narrowing the field even more. As such, many who became spoiled by Minnesota's '09 offseason spending spree were deflated by the lack of activity from the Vikings this offseason.
Lone and behold, the Vikings make a bold move in the NFL Draft by selecting Percy Harvin #22 overall. A move that is considered very uncharacteristic of Head Coach Brad Childress and company. Even more so was the fact that it was a day-of-decision.
Harvin possesses the great ability to take it the distance every time from several positions on the field. He has natural hands and a certain quickness that [...]

As NFL's Christmas comes to a close, the luster of the one weekend in April when everyone wears football jerseys comes to an end. The Minnesota Vikings have done little this offseason to prepare the team for 2009 in hopes the draft would supply everything they would need. The Vikings went in with six picks and in the end only used five as one was traded away to Washington for higher 5th round pick.
Here's how this weekend shook down for the Vikings...
Round 1: #22 Pick Overall - WR Percy Harvin (Florida) Overall Grade: A- [...]

The Vikings offseason has been nothing short of uneventful bander. The only noteworthy event other the near signing of T.J. Houshmandzadeh, was the trade of the Vikings' fourth round pick for Sage Rosenfels from the Houston Texans. Other then that, the offseason has consisted mainly of resigning key players and signing role players.
The Vikings spent the first half and majority of free agency trying to keep the guys they already had on their roster. The players resigned included DT Fred Evans, FB Heath Farwell, CB Charles Gordon, DE Otis Grigsby, DT Jimmy Kennedy, TE Jim Kleinsasser, DE Jayme Mitchell, CB Benny Sapp and FB Naufatu Tahi. Other then Tahi, none of the other re-signings were really that influential.
Although the Vikings did sign two free agents to the roster in WR Glenn [...]
