Andy Benoit Bio
Andy Benoit, 22, is most noted for being the author of the NFL preview book series Touchdown. Andy has written Touchdown each year since the age of 11. Touchdown 2005 and Touchdown 2006 were published by Random House, Inc. and sold nationwide. In recent years, Andy published his content online. It can be found here at www.NFLTouchdown.com, or in syndication on a host of other sites.
Andy’s writing has drawn praise from legendary sports media personalities such as ESPN’s Chris Berman, NBC’s John Madden, ESPN’s Rick Reilly, Monday Night Football’s Tony Kornheiser and NFL Films’s Steve Sabol. Andy has appeared nationally on several television and radio programs and has drawn recognition in many noteworthy publications, including Newsweek and The New Yorker.
For the first six years, writing Touchdown was strictly a summer hobby for Andy. In fact, the first few editions were cut and glued together like a scrapbook. In high school, he self-published Touchdown 2003 and Touchdown 2004 (Andy produced it, Mom and Dad funded it). Andy and his family (father Gary, mother Janet, and younger sister Katy) sold copies of the book locally around their hometown, Boise, Idaho.
Andy currently lives outside of Boise, and attends College of Idaho (majoring in business). In addition to sportswriting, Andy has worked in television and radio, primarily in the Boise market. In 2005, Andy was the recipient of the Gold Congressional Award, the highest honor presented to youth by the U.S. Congress, in recognition for his work in community service, personal development, and physical fitness.
