4-1-One Bucs Place
Again, I apologize for another long absence. That will be my last of the summer (Thank-Goodness). Here’s what you / I missed this past week and a half.
- Since 2004 the Bucs have spent the least amount of money on player salaries and bonuses. Just more evidence that the Glazers are the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NFL. They manage to stay just above the cap minimum, but haven’t given much effort. There is a reason the Bucs had to say their goodbyes to Brooks and Dunn and then panic and move people out of position (see Jermaine Phillips). They haven’t supplied their team with what they need to win. Yet Ruud and Penn are still awaiting the Kellen Winslow treatment. One word sums up the Glazers actions…ABSURD.
- Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune has some suggestions on how Tampa can fill out their training camp roster. I would disagree with just about all of these…. We don’t need a fullback as Graham will play their quite a bit as a second option, Kevin Carter has nothing left in the tank and our offense will not utilize Burress correctly if he shows up in sunny south Florida. We WILL NOT be a pass heavy team.
- The Bucs probably have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. This fares well for a zone-blocking system. We’ll see how they adjust (its not easy).
- The Pewter Pirates writing staff looks at a couple of emerging Starters. Talib should shine in this role…pending Barber carries his own weight on the other side of the field. If Barber can play the number one receiver most of the time, Talib will be in trouble. This man-coverage, bump and run defense could be disastrous for our secondary as we have no real speed/coverage corners.
- Another blogger believes that Caddy will be cut. Not worth much, but I called for this same thing a couple of months ago. He is waisting a roster spot and just can’t be expected to stay healthy anymore. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the PUP list.
- Joe Bucs Fan, probably my favorite daily read, gives his underrated/overrated. Not sure if Hovan is overrated (other than that the camera pans to his overweight, short, circular face with excessive face paint).
- In completely unrelated news…. Slamball is back on Cartoon Network (I couldn’t even find a far-fetched relation) and former Buc Keyshawn Johnson is now an interior designer….who knew. It’s also called Tackling Design which has nothing to do with a wide-receiver. Maybe it should be called ” An overpaid, whining, locker-room cancer who does a terrible job giving analysis on games tries to be successful at something other than retiring early because your spoiled.” Then again, maybe not.
